## Questions & Answers

**Q: i purchased a set but how do i connect them to a computer with no xlr plugs. What additional do i need to buy? what cable config do i need? thx**
A: Hi Mark,

This audio system is not specifically meant for a computer, but you can still make it work. Source: I've done it for Webex road shows.

First, I'd give up on the XLR input for this application. If you had a professional powered amplifier with XLR inputs, you'd definitely want to use them. Instead, I'd recommend using the 1/4" phone connectors. If I recall correctly, this setup doesn't come with those, so you'll need five of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NCUTO8/

Downstream from that, you'll need a simple four channel mixer. Here's the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KGYAYQ/

Then, you'll take the output from the mixer and plug it into one of these. It plugs into your computer via USB: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EK1OTZC/

The nice thing about the Behringer U-Phoria is that it has multiple inputs and outputs, so if you had a portable sound system (https://www.amazon.com/Knox-Dual-Speaker-Mixer-Kit/dp/B07N7D9XWD/), you could also send an audio signal out from your computer. Of course, in principle, the same thing would work for any pre-existing sound system like one at a church or event center.

Take care,
John

**Q: do these microphones have a built in speaker?**
A: No built in speaker.

**Q: i need 10 microphones. Is there available 10 microphones?**
A: None

**Q: Can the mic be muted when not in use to allow for private conversation at their desk?**
A: Yes. Push buttons on the mics allow for muting.

### ⭐⭐⭐ 1 of 16 mics dead on arrival, Support is really good
*by A***R on March 10, 2022*

We bought these as a school district during the pandemic to use streaming school board meetings. At first I was disappointed. One of the mics arrived nonfunctional. I called them a week later and was very satisfied with the support. I am in IT and rarely get such a pleasant and informed tech on the other end. He not only sent out a replacement the same day, he talked to me about an issue I was having with the signal to noise ratio. Most of our board members understand to keep the mics somewhat close, but there are several that push it away as soon as they sit down. For them, I have to use the old fashioned boundary mics and wonder if they really want to be heard at all. I think the issue is psychological. Many people just don't want to think about the mics and really don't want anything 6" away from their faces. These are not the mics you want for that situation unless you have a decent digital mixer with a spectral analyzer and dugan-style automix feature. The Behringer X-Air series work well in mitigating the issues of the very far away voices. despite what you read in other reviews, they have a cardioid polar pattern. They just aren't very sensitive. Our board room tables are set in a horseshoe pattern and the members sit 4'-6' apart. when only one person is talking, their far away voice is typically caught by 5 mics. This isn't an issue with the automix, but could rapidly lead to clipping without it. Here is a quick intro to automix: https://mct-master.github.io/portal/2019/09/10/Automix.html The noise on the signal isn't bad for those speakers who understand how to use a mic. For those who don't, we use the EQ features of the mixer to block out anything that isn't their voice. the spectral analyzer helps with that, though it is not an exact science. We end up tailoring each mic channel to each specific board member and label them so they can be placed easily. This is something that is easy to do within the first 3 or so minutes of them speaking alone. So, if you are willing to do the extra work on the mixer, or if you have reasonable, intelligent people that will account for their microphones and take instruction, these are just fine, especially for this price. You really don't want to have to price out a professional system from Shure or one of their competitors for a 16 mic wireless boardroom tabletop system on a limited school district budget.
