The center piece slides over the stud and a pin goes through the hole in the stud, then the outside pieces goes over that, and has 2 Allen head screws that tighten up and apply pressure to the pin to hold it tight. I have 4 of these on different rifles and they are great. never have had a problem with them. **Q: Anyone try this on a ruger 10/22 Sporter stock? Is the fit ok?** A: Only on a Hogue stocked 10/22 and it fit fine. **Q: Will this fit a ruger 10/22 target lite? the underside of the forend is flat** A: I’ve got a couple of these.
