I once was blind, but now I see

Great flashlight.I've been through a million keychain flashlights. I use to get those flashlights that require a speciality battery. I did so because they got great reviews. Some of them I really likes, but I always seem to lose them.I need a flashlight as part of my EDC. I have had one forever. I guess it started with being able to see my house lock at night. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago and although my neighborhood wasn't that bad. I always feared for my life going from my detached garage to my house. Then losing stuff in movie theaters sealed the deal.A lot of people use their phones for a flashlight... And, I have too. But, the problem with that is that it takes me way to long to remember how to turn it on. I had an Android that I set to have the light come on when I shook the phone, but then my flash on my phone would turn on at the weirdest times. So, flashlight it is. This one was the highest rated on Amazon at the time I purchased it. Usually a pretty safe bet. The ratings didn't let me down on this either. It is so bright that it rivals any double "C" flashlight I've ever had. Even the huge Maglite ones.I love that it's LED. The battery doesn't drain when not in use, or at least not enough for me to notice. I like that it has the clip on it, although I haven't used it. I want to be prepared for anything. My only gripe about it, is not really anything to do with the flashlight itself. It has to do with the idea behind it. I always preferred a click on/off button rather than a twist on.It's black is wearing off and looks super cool and aged now. Like I had it for 50 years or something. I like that look, some people may not.

    Good light for the money.

I own several high end lights for different applications. I bought the ITP A1 EOS light mainly out of curiosity. I found it hard to believe that anyone could get 190 lumen performance from such a small light.PROS:-The 3 mode feature is pretty handy. It will definetly save your battery life. And lets face it, when it comes to expensive CR123 batteries, you want all the life you can get out of them.-If you want a small key chain light that is bright, this light is it. It's the brightest light of it's size that I have found thus far. I was quite suprised.-The pocket clip is a nice touch. It is removable, so that option is nice also.CONS:-As soon as I inserted a new Sure Fire SF123 battery, I noticed some flickering with the light. In some cases the light wouldn't even turn on. I tried a different battery with the same results. After cleaning the contacts and operating the flashlight a few more times the problem was resolved. This isn't that big of a deal but it shouldn't have happened right out of the box.-Operating the twist head with large hands can be challenging. The light is too small to operate with one hand, for me anyway.-This is strictly a pocket, keychain or glove/tool box light. I wouldn't recommend using this as a back-up light if you are in a position where tactical flashlights can mean the difference between life and death. Don't be misled by the lumen rating. The CREE LED in this light is very small. The output and throw is not going to be the same as a LED 3 times larger with the same 190 lumen rating. But for $24.95 (longhorntactical.com) I wasn't dissapointed. The light is still suprisingly bright. If you are curious and want to know for yourself, buy the light. You won't be dissappointed. I'm sure you can find just the right place for it. In my opinion, you can never have too many flash lights.

Almost unbelievable light output from only 1 cell AAA.

*by P***B on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 14, 2012*

The Good:Light output... It is unmatched by any single cell 1.5V powered LED light I've ever seen or used... Comparing side-by-side, it is actually about equal to my 2 AA-cell LED Maglite (which I love, too) on MEDIUM! Put it on high, and the even the more focused beam from the maglite gets dwarfed! (Mine arrived as an "upgraded" version, labeled "up to 96 lumens" on high). The switch... I love the twist switch. I have seen some here say they would rather have a push switch, but I have seen many of those fail, and this light is so tiny, it is barely bigger than a AAA cell itself, leaving little room for such a switch. This ITP switch is SIMPLE, and simple WORKS, usually for years and years. The switch makes contact with the whole 360 deg. machined rim of the barrel, and does so with the full mechanical force of the threads. From the twisting action, the "switch" will also clean its "contacts" on every on/off cycle. It does NOT rely on the pressure of the bottom battery spring pushing two small contacts forward on the inside of a ring on the barrel like a 2AAA mini Maglite, which I have had some trouble with...Uses readily available, cheap AAA batteries. This way you won't mind when it sucks one down in less than an hour if you insist on using it on its highest lumen setting. I use AAA Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables, so battery life is not a big deal for me.The build quality is awesome. As of 1-14-12, it even comes with TWO spare o-rings for the barrel. In a world full of throw-away stuff, I was astounded that it looks like ITP still wants you to be happy with this product long-term, and gives you a few goodies to keep it going - it's actually the only "wearable" item I can find on the light! What could be improved upon:I like to sometimes clip it onto the bill of a ball cap for hands-free operation. It is not advertised to be used this way, but if ITP would've milled off an extra 2mm of the "stepped area" just in front of the grip, it would have made it easier to attach the clip in reverse for this. Note that it is still possible to do exactly that, but I have scratched the paint off that area of mine, so I don't recommend anyone trying it unless they really don't care about ruining the finish. What you may not like as much as you thought:This light is SMALL! I bought 3 of them, one for yours truly, one each for my son and daughter. One of us will surely lose one sooner or later... it is that small!A suggestion:I read a review here that somebody lost the head. Although there is no way to be sure, I wonder if the head was unscrewed too far when turning it off. If it was, the head could lose its grip on the rubber o-ring, and unscrew itself easily in transport. I find between 1/4 to 1/2 turn is correct to have confidence that the switch is sufficiently "off" while keeping the o-ring covered. Any more than abt. 3/4 turn begins to expose the o-ring.
