I have tried lotions and vaseline but I wanted to wear something at night to help seal it in. You can certainly wear them at night but I wake up and throw them off because they drive me crazy and overheat me. You don't have to wear these at night. Just wearing them for an hour should due according to the packaging. But I can't go an hour without using my hands. One other petpeeve I had was that the fingers were too long. But what do you expect when it's one size fits all? Overall they did what they were supposed to do and brought some moisture back into my poor dried up hands. Also I didn't notice a terrible odor.
