You can't really see anything through them. It's not a high-quality lens, at all. (It does stand up to two toddler boys using it as a baseball bat, though. He can't read the suggested experiments and he didn't really understand them. He had fun pouring colored water,ice etc from one container to another. It includes the “lab equipment” you’ll need for the experiments, and there is a set of large cards in the set with detailed instructions for conducting simple experiments. It’s a great way to introduce little children to science. My little 3 year old granddaughter loves this set!
