    Old blues

*by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2015*

This sounds a lot like other old blues that I've heard. It was recorded in 1941 and 1942 in Muddy's cabin, his first recordings. "The delta region has nurtured a tradition of blues singing and playing that reflects the harsh, brutal life there, a music shot through with all the agonized tension, bitterness, stark power and raw passion of the life lived at the brink of despair" (from the liner notes) I don't see a playlist so here it is: Country Blues #1, I Be Troubled, Burr Clover Farm Blues, Ramblin' Kid Blues, Rosalie, Joe Turner, Pearlie May Blues, Take a Walk With Me, Burr Clover Blues, I Be Bound to Write to You, You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone, You Got to Take Sick And Die Some of These Days, Why Don't You Live So God Can Use You?, Country Blues #2, and 32-20 Blues. All songs written by Muddy Waters except two. Eight of the songs were performed by Muddy Waters. As with all the old blues, this is interesting and fun to listen to. We will be visiting Blue's Alley in Clarksdale, MS this spring. There you can see Muddy's cabin and other Muddy artifacts in the Delta Blues Museum, so just had to hear his first recordings before we go.
