Whenever it is heating up or cooling down, there is a constant sound similar to metal bashing which is very loud. We use this in a bedroom and both floor standing and wall mounted suffers from this. We often get woken up by it when it is scheduled to come on. **Q: What does the heater measure front to back and how far do brackets stick out from wall?** A: the bracket sticks out approx. 1.5 inches. The depth of the heater from the front to the wall is 5 inches. Hope this helps. **Q: Have bought this heater and it keeps turning off** A: Yes mine turns off because I set the periods for each day that I don't want it on. Also I set the heater to only come on when the temp goes below 7C. I must admit that I have only had it set for about a week as I had so much trouble with the suppliers. They initially sent an old model which they had me return and took ages to get a replacement to me. I found the setting up a bit of a pain but the main thing seems to be to get the optimnm temp thst you set at the beginning right and set the individual hours for each day at that temp or -1C, -2C, or on the frost setting.
