Santoprene is softer and lighter than polypropylene, and won't break a finger bone like polypropylene can.. These santoprene trainers are semi-rigid with blunted edges - they will not and cannot impale or slice open anyone. Santoprene has about 10 - 30% weight of most things they are imitating. It's much more pronounced than the live blade version of this item.Solved this with a little grip tape and it's now flawless. I can train for hours and it holds up to anything reasonable I ask of. It is excellent not just as a trainer for the live blade version, but a great trainer for Kukris in general.
