Great WAP controller and monitoring tool!!! - Don't bother with the original cloud key. Only use the G2's or Dream Machines. The dream machines are easiest. This is a commercial/enterprise product, but it's inexpensive and works well in homes as well. I install these products in small and massive homes alike, because it's very reliable, and it scales easily. If you have a UniFi network without a G2 cloud key, you are missing the point of UniFi. When you pair the cloud key with the security gateway (USG), you will sometimes run into problems with the adoption. DO NOT download the PC controller software for any reason, even if the USG tells you to. ALWAYS use the UniFi app. If you have issues adopting the USG, then factory default that unit. Occasionally you may need to access the web GUI of the cloud key and do a manual adoption of the USG. This is rare, but frustrating when it happens. It does not mean that the equipment is defective, just that there's probably a firmware discrepancy or something. Sometimes after setting up the cloud key initially, you need to power cycle the unit for it to register that it needs a firmware update. What are the pros or cons?** A: I use the controller to be able to log into the UniFi controller from any computer or the mobile app. I am often at different computers and it is much easier for me to connect to one IP address than to always go back to the computer where the UniFi software was loaded and is running. **Q: What are the pro's con's on the gen2 vs the gen2 plus?** A: The gen2 Plus has a built-in hard drive to allows it to support up to 20 Unifi Cameras and 1 TB Storage (Upgradeable to 5 TB) to use as a NVR. **Q: What power adapter would you recommend for usb-c power? 2amp?** A: It depends. Generally you would only buy one of these if you have other Unifi devices on your network. A lot of those devices supply (or require) power supplied by POE. In the long run, POE is a lot simpler than having power adapters for every device. At first I thought POE was a gimmick, but as soon as I saw it working I was hooked. I plan to use a Unifi POE Switch to provide the power, which means I don't need to supply power by USB-C. It also has an internal battery, so you probably don't need to supply redundant power. I plan to put the POE switch onto a UPS anyway, so that should be reliable enough for this. If you decide to use USB-C power, the Unifi site lists it as USB-C 5 V 1 A, with a max power draw of 5 Watts. Therefore, you don't need a 2 Amp charger. The more power hungry Gen2 Plus has a max power draw of 16 Watts, but still works with a 1 Amp supply. **Q: Does this come with a microsd card like the g1 version?** A: I can confirm that the Gen2 does not ship with the microSD card, even though Ubiquiti's marketing materials say that it is included. In fact, this device comes with very little. No power supply, no power cord (803.af PoE), no ethernet cable, no microSD card.
