More than should have been necessary for a mobile phone car mount. I've had several others in the past: one that mounts to the windshield with suction cup, and one that attaches to the air vent and holds the phone with a magnet. And now this one. I've used it for about a month with daily commuting.This car mount hit all my requirements:1) Holds iPhone XS Max with a caseThe phone is large, it is heavy, and I wanted something that could hold it with a modest case (I'm using the Mous Limitless 2 case). This mount does that. Length isn't so much a problem as width is. There is a little space left on the arms when fully open to easily release the phone. So even a little wider than my phone + case would work. The phone has never dropped from the mount on its own.2) Has Qi chargingThis was important because I need to charge the phone when I drive. I use Google Maps all the time and I usually have music or podcast playing. I needed the lightening cable port free to connect to my radio. And I didn't want a clunky adapter that splits the lightening port into power and music. So far for my needs the charging has worked fine with the phone in the Mous Limitless 2 case. I haven't gone on an extended drive, so I can't say for sure it can charge the phone as fast as it drains with use, but so far it's met my needs.3) Attaches to air ventI didn't want to mount anything to the window or dashboard. I like the idea of a vent mount. This is the weakest part of the mount, but I would say it is still acceptable. The iPhone XS Max with a case is very heavy. So, not really the fault of the mount so much, but the weight of the mount+phone causes my air vent slats to basically immediately close in the down position. Which over time causes the mount's vent attachment to just come loose and fall off the vent. I am going to prop the air vent open by sticking some rubber or material into the bottom air vent slat to prevent it from closing. Otherwise, I don't think the mount's vent attachment comes lose. Also, I feel any vent mount would suffer the same fate unless it thoroughly wrapped around the vent slat. Also, with the positioning ball joint on the back, I can pretty easily move the phone into any position I want.Finally, I would say the automated arm open and close usually works. Sometimes it doesn't and I have to use the power button to get the arms to open. It could be that while I'm trying to use the open touch sensor I'm blocking some part of the front sensor and it gets confused. I dunno. But it's a minor inconvenience, and really wasn't a feature I was looking for anyway.Oh, it looks good too IMHO. Not really a primary requirement, but it's nice. The included power cord and adapter are solid. ### ⭐ Quit immediately - waiting on resolution *by K***. on Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2019* Looks great, installed easily. Worked about 10 times- but now doesn’t work at all- arms are stuck in closed position. When you touch the pad on the back, you can hear a ever so slight double click - the arms don’t move. Touch the sensor with your finger (my phone won’t fit in it with the arms closed) and you can hear a different pattern slight double click no movement from the arms. Called tech support at 9:15 am - no answer and even though there voicemail tells you to leave a message , it disconnects and won’t allow you to do so. Yeah ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A little disappointing (update) *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2018* So I bought this for my wife as one of her Christmas presents and was disappointed by the fact that it mostly will not charge her phone because she uses an iPhone 8 with an Otterbox defender which means I bought myself a Christmas present as it charges my iPhone Xs in a Speck case just fine.The mounting was very easy and so far holds the phone in place just fine. The touch feature to take the phone out or put it in works great so far. The sensor that monitors when you put the phone in and closes the holding arms works great.I won't comment about durability as we have only used it 3 times but will come back and update on that in time.Update: well with a little adjustment to the position of my wifes Otterbox enclosed iPhone 8 it now works great and charges every time.An odd thing we discovered. I plugged the bolt into the USB port in my Ford Edge. If I put the phone in the charger before trying to start the car, the car will not start. Really weird.
