## Description

The MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE

Review: Avengers ASSEMBLE!!! - This game is fantastic, it plays out like any of both the previous ultimate alliance games did. They brought back the shield portal were you swap out characters and save.... But also with these new infinity rift challenges (more or less replaces the simulator disks) and a rather massive skill tree that will have you playing long after the campaign is done. You can switch your characters like in ultimate alliance 2 with the D pad but can only switch out characters on the shield portal like in ultimate alliance 1 and this is the biggest roster of heros in the series so far, dispite certain villians and like the fantastic 4 not being there this time will most likey be added in post DLC. They did add team attacks you can do but I find that the timing for those attacks are very short/split second even. Everything else is the same, special attacks are still the same mechanically speeking and ultimate attacks still work the same and kind of new for the fact you can just use it one at a time or have everyone use it at the same time to deal massive damage. There is this new stagger system also makes it that you can't span attacks but also use block and doging more efficiently espeshally important on the harder difficulties. The "in-game collectibles" has been more or less replaced by smashing some metal cube that's hidden somewere for some XP Cube to level up characters quickly, because levels don't seem to scale for everyone this time it's only for the members in your team so unless you pick certain characters they are going to stay a pretty low level the entire time. A nitpick I would point out though is the lack of environmental destruction... In ultimate alliance 2 you could smash just about anything if it's there. Here though it's rather limited to just... Boxes and the occasional explosive throwable with the exception of some boss fights requiring some special gun to aim like the sandman fight to solidify him. Story is more faithful to the original comics of the infinity war storyline were yes all these characters did participate in trying to stop Thanos like wolverine, the spidervese squad + venom, luke cage, iron fist, daredevil.... Etc as well as villians you may or may not have known that thanos did had on his side besides the "children of thanos" so I defently appreciate the devs for going the classic way. Graphics look great, certain character designs have defently been updated to their MCU counterparts (I'll miss you white nick furry) while others retain their classic counterparts like luke cage, thor, scarlet witch as well certain villians having their classic designs too so big boned thanos is back. Overall this is a simple and yet very good time, I defently enjoy and recommend this game. Also note there is planed to be more characters, costumes and story content added later along the line with both free and paid DLC.
Review: A review with a little more in-depth info (edit after writing: a lot more) - Cons: -Camera (in case you did'nt already know)- Yeah, camera's junk. I played in the close-up camera (hero) and a few times it irritated me though a lot less than others have said (I'm not someone who cares much about camera framerate etc so take that everyone else gaming these days). -Weird difficulty spike for endgame (not a pun)- You have around 40 characters at your disposal and some are unlocked with higher levels than others. You can choose to level by playing through the story or by completing challenge rooms. They also provide one-time use xp items to level characters you dont want to have to grind levels with. Problem was (for me), I beat the game with about 10 characters I had been leveling over the course of the (each around lv 35). When I unlocked the Superior difficulty, it was so hard that there was really no way to bring in the characters I had barely touched throughout my first play through. I also really didnt have enough xp items to level them to 30. Bummer. So now my OG crew runs the challenges and I guess I'll restart the game on a lower difficulty with my low level characters. Loading times- initial loading times between story and challenge rooms are bad. The worse culprit is loading in menus. It's just long enough for you to utter "Jesus" under your breath. If you've read other reviews, you know the pros. This is just my 2 cents about the good minus all the stuff you've heard (probably ad nausium). Pros: Iso-8 system- I thought I would'nt like this system as it almost sounded tacked on, but incorrect. Iso8 modifys rpg attributes like loot does in other games EXCEPT it works on everyone. In other words its better because I'm not waiting for specific stuff to drop (especially since there's so many characters, can you imagine lol). They range from basic light attack modification, buffs, high vitality, etc to cool stuff like adding ice to the last hit in a combo chain, adding a shock property to your heavy attacks, or raising your damage to enemies with a stagger bar. That's more of the ish I'm interested in. Combat: I'm surprised how many people think this is basic stuff. True, you can play this game as a button masher but good luck once the difficulty ramps up. Combat is more nuanced than you might expect-more akin to an active rpg battle system. I played it this way, for example,- I stacked iso on wolverine that did double damage to staggered enemies. Iron Fists' iso set his ability charge attacks through the roof. Then Ghost Rider had iso that made his attacks chew through stagger meter. So I combo chain until the boss is staggered, switch to wolverine to start in on light/heavy attacks, then switch to Iron fist to charge his mega uppercut. Then I got wolverine to do his uppercut at the same time. Massive damage. Massive fun. What to do if you activate only one super on a character? why not switch to another, run beside the boss who is getting wrecked as hulk and charge his slow as heck ground slam. Get out of here with the combat is simple. Story/dialogue: I cant say I'm into comics books, but I appreciated the story and writing. Everyone has distinctive personalities, gets a spot in the (uh) spotlight, and is voiced great. Game gets to the point: It's killin killin killin. That's what it's supposed to be. The fact that it has great story, dialogue, and music is icing. You are literally bombarded for the first 3/4 of the game by boss after boss, playable character after character, cameos out the wazoo. It's just plain fun. That's it. It's deeper than what everyone is saying. Hope this can turn a few on the fence. its a 4.5 star for me but since there's still people in 2019 giving 1 star reviews for a product based on how bad their shipping/purchasing experience was, ima give it 5.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gives fans exactly what they wanted!
*by M***P on July 23, 2019*

As I read the reviews for this game I was initially disappointed that some of the scores were lower than I was expecting, but if you actually read the reviews you start to notice they took points away for giving fans exactly what they wanted. This is a frantic hack and slash with a light RPG influence to give it a little more depth. The game rewards you for learning how to play it, but you can also grind away, or just pick the same heroes throughout to lower the difficulty. You can also change the difficulty at any time if you're frustrated. With online and offline co op, the grind doesn't even feel like a grind. I'm beating it one player first, but I explored the options and you can go back to any chapter to grind characters and play with other people. The different ways to approach it should add some major replay value. One thing I think I should clear up is a lot of reviews say the characters don't have a lot of variety in controls... I don't know what game they're playing. There are flying guys, characters who are long range, brawlers, and each character brings enough of their superpower to feel like the character. The one negative I can think of is the story could have been better. It plays more like a greatest hits than an attempt to try something new. It doesn't hold the game back, but it could have been better. Anyway, I don't write long reviews generally so this is where I'm leaving it. If you are on the fence at all, I would say go for it. I'm completely addicted and just stopped playing to spread the news. I think I'm going to go back to it now.
