I've found that just a squeeze of the plastic allows you to obtain "the goods" without.cutting or tearing. This is a plus..The cable itself works just fine. I was concerned over cable quality, since it wasn't a metal connector and didn't seem heavy gauge. This has not proved to be an issue.Works great, and don't have to worry about coiling up unused cable, too. Nevertheless I've used a lot of cables in my life and these have the look and feel of quality products. The connectors are solid and well-molded. They have good strain reliefs. The cable jacket is thick enough that it should be able to stand up to regular use. The cables are thick and comfortably pliable without being wimpy.
