## Description

Review: I am SO glad I purchased this mill - I was very nervous about purchasing this mill because, well, the pricetag was a bit too steep for me to feel totally guilt-free about buying it. After several months of internal conflict about whether to drop 4.5 bills on a real stone mill with a 12 year warranty or settle for something cheaper, i finally convinced myself (and my reluctant husband) about a month ago to take the plunge and buy the komo (after having some other "you get what you pay for" experiences with kitchen tools I decided that it was worth dropping double the money on another appliance that I won't have to send back to the manufacturer every three months). Let me just tell you, I am SO glad I purchased this mill. The feelings of guilt about my splurge? GONE! And here's why: 1. Its the only small appliance I own that I can call beautiful and have no reservations about letting it stay out on the counter in the middle of my beautiful kitchen in all its wooden splendid glory. It really is a good looking machine! 2. This machine looks and feels very solid. You know how most countertop appliances just have that "made in china" feel (Cheap parts, shoddy construction, skimpy motor)? Not this baby. Its very compact but it's a beast. And it performs as beautifully as it looks and feels. It can effortlessly mill spelt and rye flour that is so fine it feels like puffy clouds when i pinch it between my fingers and it can also mill coarsely enough to be able to just crack oats for my morning oatmeal. That was a major selling point for me, to be able to crack oats. Most cheaper mills just can't. 3. It's a very simple yet well thought-out design. Flip the switch, put a bowl in front of the chute where the milled grain exits, put the grain in the hopper, turn the hopper until desired courseness/fineness is obtained, that's it. No cleaning, no assembly or disassembly, just pour in the grain and watch it effortlessly exit the chamber and accumulate in your collection bowl. I have not experienced any issues with flour dust flying around and settling everywhere as I've read several reviewers complain about with other mills. 4. Its surprisingly NOT that noisy. My hair dryer, vaccum cleaner, and coffee grinder are all considerably louder than this grain mill. My two year old can attest to this because he is terrified of loud noises and tries to climb up my leg whenever I attempt to blow dry my hair or run the coffee grinder, yet he doesn't bat an eyelash when i use the komo. The only "con" i've experienced with this machine, if you can even call it that, is that it is such a pleasure to use that I am constantly looking for excuses to use it and subsequently have been baking almost every single day since the day I bought it. I have made beautiful sourdough spelt loaves that look like they came out of a european bakery, banana bread, muffins, etc etc. I haven't purchased any breads, pastries, flours, or cereals from the grocery store since i bought this mill. I guess that's not really a con is it? ;) If you've been on the fence about purchasing this mill, hopefully this review will help to lessen your doubts. Its pricy, i know, but its a gift to your health, and those are the best ones to splurge on :)
Review: Home Made is Always Best - I bought my Fidibus almost 4 years ago and I have used it heavily. Now after all this time, I still believe this is one of the best things I have done for my kitchen, baking, and health. I think everyone already knows of milling your own flour, so I won't comment on that here. However, if you want a well-made grain milling machine with a 12-year warranty (that is not a typo, it really is 12 years), then the Fidibus 21 by Komo is what you want. Now for some, the price might be a deterrent, but you are getting the highest quality milling machine. For me, it has been perfect for making my own whole wheat flour, milling lentils, and other dry grains. The machine is well built, easy to clean and maintain, and just works. I love making whole wheat pasta from freshly milled flour. Does not creates much flour dust while milling grains like those other cheap plastic mills. The grinding stones are easily cleaned by grinding long grain rice or taking it apart and brushing off the grinding stones with a dry bristle brush. There is no buyer's remorse here like I had with the cheaper plastic one I bought and returned after seeing how much dust is produced. If you care about the purity of your food (flour) this is one way to assure you are avoiding all the harsh chemicals (Benzoyl peroxide, yea the same stuff they use for acne is used for making flour pretty and white). and keeping the nutritious parts that are good for us. Would I recommend it to a friend or my family? You bet I would!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: im looking to do dried roots, vegies, fruits... rather than grains, can this do it? (taro, cassave, ulu)**
A: I really don't think I would recommend that. The input on top has rather small opening and the moisture still present in the fruits/veggies will most likely gum up the grinding stones.

**Q: can this grind corn for cornmeal?**
A: This machine is made for "dry" grains. High oil content seeds, nuts (and corn) will clog -- a special corn mill will work.

**Q: Is there any odor coming from the wood? Does the wood have any kind of application with stain or any thing else? We have chemical sensitivities.**
A: No odor. Not sure of the finish or stain.

**Q: How many years warrenty**
A: Twelve

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well Made
*by T***Y on March 13, 2017*

I bought the KoMo after my volume of wheat needed was a bit too much for the MockMill to go through easily. The consistency of the flour is better than the MockMill too. The mill is not quiet and it is a bit slow, but for a single batch of bread this shouldn't be an issue. I've run enough wheat through it for 20 loaves and it ran fine. I did have to stop every couple of kilograms to let the motor cool down. Taking it apart is pretty easy, just unscrew the hopper and everything comes out when the hopper is released. The unit itself is really well made. It feels solid and that it should hold up for many years. I'll probably upgrade to the commercial version at some point, but this will work for now.
