What a remarkable and uncompromising film this is, Mia Wasikowska at her best.
Mia Wasikowska in one of her earliest films, playing Robyn Davidson, and follows Robyn's remarkable solo camel trek across Australia's harsh and unforgiving interior in 1977, then 27-year-old Robyn set out on a 2700km journey with four camels and her dog. When she wrote an article about her adventure, it generated so much interest she wrote a book that became an instant bestseller. What a remarkable and uncompromising film this is, Mia magically portrays Robyn's free spirit in her need to be solitary on her journey and her determination and vulnerability as she works her way into obtaining the camels and dealing with the difficulties of that long trek across Australia. If anyone has ever felt the need to escape the maddening crowd and strike off on your own, this shows the highs and lows of that experience and reflected something deep within my own psyche, when i found crowds of people oppressive.I never did get that far, and this film and Robyn Davidson's books and photo albums show just how much it takes to strike out and go your own way. Highly recommended, and don't expect a nice easy ride on a camel, just expect a glimpse at the truth, and wonder how you wold have dealt with that challenge?

True story
Really good film, utterly amazing achievement by 'the camel lady' which I'd never heard of. Good script and casting and of course stunning scenery. Bonus was the actual photos shown at the end. Well worth a watch.

True story!
How a young woman trekked across the Australian desert in the 70's with a few camels and supplies simply because she could is an amazing story. She was financially supported and tracked by the National Geographical magazine for the recording of her adventure but it was she who single handedly trained to manage the animals and survive long routes through what are dangerously remote, dry areas. Great film really enjoyed it.

Tracks - what a film
What can I say about Tracks even though it was true story. I never thought a woman can make that 2000 miles journey across the desert and loved the dog, but had me bawling my eyes out, gave me a headache with me bawling! Grhh! Really enjoyed the film and the scenery fantastic and at times I thought you mad going through that in the heat, and she was butt naked! A shocker! I was finger wagging at the screen to tell her to put your clothes on, not that I'm prude or anything well I am. At least I'm honest! :-)The camels so lovely and so cute and the little baby one! Wanted to give it a cuddle!Fantastic film

There's always the scenery
Pretty much full of the kind of things you expect from an outback track. It takes a bit long for the trek to get going, but it's all quite entertaining after that. Mia Wasikowska spends most of her time being annoyed at pretty much everybody and everything which means it's difficult to warm to her until torwards the end. Don't expect edge of the seat excitement, but it's not a bad few hours and there's always the scenery!

A true story of endurance, kindness and finding solace in the journey
The book had been recommended to me by a friend because of my love of walking, but when I saw there was a film I couldn't wait to watch it! Apparently staying very true to most of the facts, this film was sublime - the stress, humour, tears, joy, among other emotions, were all there. Also showing the real people and some of the photo's that were printed in the National Geographic publications of the same were shown at the end. Worth watching.

A Brave Young Woman's Journey of Discovery
A thought provoking film well acted and awakening the reasons human beings search for peace, often in loneliness. Yet this story about one woman's personal quest involves others in a thoughtful commentary on why we need each other, including loyal and unjudgemental animals. The film was also an interesting reminder/cameo of the bygone age of youth protest and the hippy peaceful rebellion against normality. On the whole a lovely story well photographed in the great wide, often barren, land of Australia with a purposeful direction which kept me fascinated to the very end. Buy or rent this film.

An extraordinary journey by an extraordinary girl
Robin had a fiercely independent spirit and crossed the Australian desert against the advice and expectations of all who met her. She had a unique rapport with the aboriginal people and with animals. The film captured the searing heat and wide spaces and was an absorbing and sometimes humorous of an epic journey.

Blu-ray tracks

and it gets better with every viewing
A transfixing, meditative journey through the mind of an antisocial, fearless wanderer, Robyn Davidson. John Curran directs Mia Wasikowska (incredible performance) through a grueling trek across the Australian Outback to the Indian Ocean. The camels and Diggity the dog add an unique feel to the adventure. Mandy Walker's cinematography is Oscar-caliber, and accomplished under very difficult conditions. (Trust me, been there, done that...) Requires more than the usual attention span, and patience for Australian accents (there are subtitles, recommended), but well worth the journey. I have seen the film three times now, and it gets better with every viewing, a great sign. After viewing this, run, don't walk to buy a copy of Davidson's "Tracks" and Rick Smolan's photo book, with excepts by Davidson – "From Alice to Ocean- Across the Outback". Both are superb.
