Works at least as a simple switch between speaker system and earbuds w/mic
As a simple switch between my earbuds (w/ built-in mic) and my speaker system, I find the audio quality perfectly fine. No hiss, no feedback loop. HOWEVER, when recording earbud-mic using Audacity, the music playing through earbuds was recorded. Could be an Audacity error, audio card error, earbuds error, or maybe this device. I'm not an electrical engineer and haven't debugged all the sources. However, device functions how I want it to: as a simple switch at the front of my desk. So it's 5/5 to me. The earbuds+mic is essentially: 10+3+3 feet away from the laptop now and sounds normal. Speaker at high volume sound clear too, though it's a cheap system: $45 max. Image documents the setup that works. I'm using all high-end gold-plated 4-pole extension cables for the earbuds/wMic. I also don't have a second (B) input device. I just have two output devices: speaker (3-pole) and earbuds (4-pole). Hope this helps! 2/19/21. Device arrived on time too (days early from weeks estimate).

This does not work as it is supposed to.
I have been looking for a box to switch between headphone and speakers. This piece says it will do that, but it does not, not to mention the sound coming through the piece is static and horrible. Don't buy this!

One Headphone - Two Inputs - Computer & Phone
This device works great - I use it in my home office. My computer links into a docking station, where I have the microphone jack linked to this device. Thus, I just leave the office headset hooked up. I then link the other input into my phone and I can use one headset for both - just push the A/B button on this device.I did have troubles getting my docking station to recognize this device, but I had to download new drivers from Dell for it. It was not a problem with this device - just how I was using it. But, if you have troubles doing something similar, then try that. An interesting end note - WebEx doesn't recognize my setup - I think it is a driver/WebEx/Windows-10-Thinking-Too-Much thing, but have yet to play too much with it.

Good Idea, Poor Implementation
The concept is unique and interesting, but the implementation doesn't live up to the hype. A switch for a 4-pole headset connection is a rare thing I've been looking for.I have this connected to USB sound cards on a laptop and desktop. When both are connected, there is a new low static noise through both the recording and the playback (a ground loop?). And when pressing the mute button, there's an abrupt and loud clack heard through the headphones. And figuring out if either buttons are pressed is also a challenge since neither move very much to tell the difference. All of those are deal-breakers for my use case. That said I will give credit to the solid construction, nice cables, and smooth volume control.

Nice little box, good cables
I was using a simple Y-type audio connector to listen to 2 computers with my headphones. But I've noticed that it sometimes introducing a GREAT decrease in an audio quality. So I bought this little thing instead.PROS:- It works perfectly (well, it's just the first day, but I'll let you know if this changes), no decrease in an audio quality noticeable;- I like the minimalistic, open-box design;- quality of included cables is unexpectedly good (they have a nylon coating - good for durability, and a sticky strap that allowed me to reduce the cable length and so - my table clutter).HEADS UP:- you need to pay attention to two switches positions while installing. In particular, "Out Option" switch should point to there you inserted your headphones connector - cost me some confusion at first, but I like the additional configurability. This is the installation hazard only - no need to change the switch position after that... unless you want to.CONS:- the position of A/B switch is a bit hard to tell: A or B? I may become used to it in the future, but I would rather have a separate "B" button instead of the Mute button, which I will not be using. This is the thing that made me to reduce a star.- price? I was going to buy a cheaper device, but decided on this one cause it had the cables included. But now I am glad I've chosen this one since - see above - I like the cables and the looks.Sorry for any errors - English is not my 1st language.

ESD/static can be an issue
It was picking up a lot of static until I finally grounded my workstation. This static caused audio distortion and popping/crackling sounds in my earbuds. They will probably work better with earphones than earbuds also (with the extra layer of insulation between you and the speakers). The grounding pins are all fully connected correctly. It was all about the voltage difference between me in my office chair and the laptop.

Good speaker output but noisy, weak mic output.
I set the unit up to switch between a headset/mic and a speaker. The speaker output is fine but the unit causes the mic quality to become unacceptable. 1) The mic level drops to a whisper. 2) There is a strong background hiss. 3) There is an echo.If I bypass the unit and plug my headset into my pc then the mic issues disappear and it functions normally.Unfortunately I purchased the unit so I wouldn't have to manually swap my headset and speakers.

excellent pass-through
I wanted to have quick and easy way to switch between having the sound output from my work Macbook Pro go either to my external speakers or my headset (with microphone). This little switch does the trick! I love the added volume control too so that I don't have to manipulate the audio buttons on the Mac keyboard. When I click to my headset I get not only the sound output but also the microphone input. Love it!.

Excellent product and did more than expected
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked well with my Bose headphones. I am using a Apple in-line mic cable which does not work directly with the audio splitter on my PC (line out and mic), because it was meant for CTIA standard and not the Apple version of the standard, that uses a non-standard microphone and control signaling method. However when connected through this Audio switch it is able to work, even though it has a small glitch it was still unexpected that the mic would even work at all.

Ground loop (persistent buzz), audio bleeds into microphone
- Ground looping, you will continuously hear a background hiss with this when both outputs are connected to devices. TRRS ground loop isolators aren't common so eliminating ground loop so this is an unfixable problem.- Audio bleed through into the microphone (echos), this might be a great device for audio loopback but not for its intended purpose of a switch. You will hear your headphone audio perfectly clearly into microphone input.Out of refund window, tried all sorts of headphones & tricks to get rid of the loopback without any luckThe physical build quality is to its credit, the volume control knob is one of the nicest feeling knurled knobs I've felt.

Bang for your Buck
Volume control with the multiple inputs and outputs is the best audio control system for the price. Quality is great and the product is well put together. Overall, no complaints.

Essential for two devices
What a great little device. Working from home this device is perfect. I can switch seamlessly between teams calls and music on my phone. The audio quality is pretty good, as is the mic pick up. I love that I still have the option to add a speaker set if I want. The simple buttons mean less to go wrong, looks great beside my USB hub set up.
