Bought for someone who likes to try different whisky. Says its really nice but is on the stronger side

I got this on offer. At that price its worth it and I'd probably buy again, but not immediately. At the normal price, like so many bottles these days its scandalously over priced. As for the whisky itself, its a competent dram. I bit nippy neat, even after a while in the glass. Some water really helps as you'd expect at cask strength and this can easily hold up to the addition of water. Its challanging for me (only been properly drinking whisky for a couple of years) but I've found that there is a sweet spot for this when adding water. Too little and its nippy, a touch too much and its suddenly loses the bourbon and spicy notes which are, for me, the stand out flavours. But when you get it bang on its a tasty dram. Dried fruit, dried spice, possibly cardamom (?) and quite a long Finnish. I don't pour many in one sitting but I do enjoy the odd one so wouldn't recommend for a beginner or daily sipper.Overall not mind blowingly good but an nice occasional tipple to keep your palate on its toes
