TGL- 24 Inch "The Traveler" Mens Leather Travel Overnight Gym Duffel Bag

I purchased this bag for my brother-in-law. Unfortunately, there was a really bad odour to the bag. My sister said "the bag smells like animal". This is distinctly different than the leather smell we are all used to. They were in the middle of winter and couldn't put the bag out in the sun to finish the tanning process as we were instructed to by the seller. In the end, I had to return the item.However, do to this shipping from India, it was going to cost the seller more to ship it back, so we struck a deal for a refund minus the original shipping costs. I do believe that the shipping costs should have been separate from the total cost, but I didn't argue any further as it was clear I wasn't communicating with someone with English as their first language.In the end, I'm happy I got a refund. I'm just disappointed that the bag odour was so strong as it was beautiful, but totally unusable.

I am worried that the quality of the "Traveler" may not be up to the quality expected for a long trip. For a product that was said to be a high value ($200 to $250 on open market) it seems a bit flimsy. I'll be using the new luggage for my Amtrak trip ti New York City. Its quality may be better than it feels. -

I purchased this for my husband and he loves it. Some other reviewers have mentioned a bad smell. It did have a noticeable smell as it is leather. Leather smells until it doesn't. It's just that simple. It was strong at first but wore off in about a week. Placing it outside to air out would probably reduce the smell faster. The quality is excellent. Zippers zip, handles hold. No signs of it wearing out yet and he has been using it daily for about a year now. It's a seriously great looking bag. Very manly and holds a lot of stuff. He really likes the large pockets too.

Update, the smell was never going away half a year later, I threw it in the oven at 274F for about half an hour, the smell is now bearable, but several parts of the bag shrunk and roasted. A handle also broke prior. Just junk, don't bother. It goes in the trash next.A month and a half later, after leaving it in the sun for a week, it still is an overpowering leather/rotten smell. And once brought into a small hotel room, unbearably overwhelming, the smell really hasn't reduced much since the first day of letting it air out.A real downer as I otherwise like the bag.The shoulder strap is probably the weakest link of the bag however, thin and not very comfortable if the bag is loaded.

Zippers and strap buckle both failed shortly after my first use. The inner lining also tore and that was with light usage. The bag also had a very strange heavy odor. I replaced the bag asap with another weekender set. I am very unhappy with the money spent on this product. Do not make the same mistake.

I am disappointed in the leather traveler I purchased. I just came back from a 5 day trip in which I used my leather traveler for the first time. When I got back I noticed that the lining inside the traveler had pulled away from the side of the suitcase. I looked at the lining on the other side of the traveler and it was pulling loose. The lining had not been sewn in, but glued. I can't believe that a suitcase with an original price of $250 had the lining glued in and was not sewn in. I am 65 years old and don't think I was rough on the traveler. The leather traveler started falling apart after one trip. I would not buy this leather traveler again

This was a thank you gift for a friend who had been very instrumental in helping to accomplish a life-long dream, and he loved it! The bag was large, rugged looking (as I wanted it to look) and was sturdy enough to carry a good number of items without concern it put too much stress on the straps. And though it smelled like leather, it DID NOT stink; we were able to open it up, stuff it to shape, and then gift wrap it fully expanded in a large box.

So far? Exquisite. Exactly what I wanted. Great color, feel, sturdiness, etc. Yes, there is a smell. Guess what? It's made from an animal...that's why! Leather products always have an odor. Please stop giving negative reviews on this product because of the smell. It's ignorant.Now, we shall see if the zippers/buckles hold up. They seem to be sturdy, but I just had a bag zipper (NOT from the maker of this bag) bust on me after 3 uses. Only time will tell. So far though, vey pleased.
