Belongs in a museum of bad ideas: stinky, poorly insulated, squishy, leaky
Flaw 1. StinkyThis item arrived with a strong chemical smell, a lot like new car smell, which made me afraid to drink from it. So I tried boiling it in water for hours and washing with various soaps and cleansers with no success. Finally I tried baking it in an oven for hours which did seem to reduce the chemical smell... but then it absorbed odors from the oven which it now imparts to any drink you put in it. This is a known problem with silicone: it absorbs flavors and odors and you can't get them, except when they seep into your drink.Flaw 2. Poorly insulatedSilicone, although slightly better than glass or paper or plastic, is still not a very good insulator so this cup will not keep drinks hot or cold for very long. It will also feel hot or cold in your hand when you hold it. A vacuum insulated steel travel mug is much, much better.Flaw 3. SquishyThey've made it firm enough to be usable but a good solid travel mug which does not bend at all in your hand is much more pleasant to use.Flaw 4. LeakyThe lid does have a way to seal the drinking spout but it's not very secure. You cannot toss this in your bag without getting everything inside wet.It does have a couple of strengths too:Strength 1: IndestructibleVery durable. It will not shatter like glass or dent like steel or get crushed like paper or plastic. So if you need a cup which can survive a fall from a great height or being stepped on by an elephant, this might be the one for you.Strength 2: MicrowaveableYou can put it in the microwave to reheat after its poor insulation allows your drink to get cold before you're finished.Overall, I cannot find a case where I would use this stinky, poorly insulated, squishy mug over a vacuum insulated steel travel mug.Update: I found one use for it: room temperature water. That way the poor thermal properties and tendency to retain odors, flavors, and stains don’t matter. Also, I figured out I can clean it by pressure cooking it in my Instant Pot.

Great Product
Seems nearly indestructible. Lid seals well to the glass and the stopper built into the lid works well to keep fluids in the glass. Not sure how well it would stay sealed if dropped when full. The only downside that I have seen so far is that silicone does not provide much insulation (poor ice retention).

CHEMICAL SMELL
This cup was fine for the first few uses, now it has a bad chemical smell coming from it :(

Silicone degrates over time
My silipint cup has turned a brownish color due to the silicone degrading. I am honestly baffled by this. If the silicone has been used a lot especially if its heated it can get a slight haze slowly over time. I've experienced this with other siliconeware but its no big deal. In this case the entire cup is just brown. Pretty crazy.Otherwise, I love this cup for its sturdiness and while any reusable cup is a chore to clean its easy compared to others.

The perfect cup for a Parkinson's disease patient.
My wife has Parkinson's disease and at times has bad tremors in her legs or if she has medicine for the tremors she has bad Dyskinesia in her arms. So she spilled a lot of whatever she is drinking. She also knocks over her glass a lot. We found a gel filled double hulled tumbler that was great but it didn't survive a fall from the bathroom vanity to the bathroom floor. This Silipint ( I'm pretty sure it is really suppose to be a beer pint glass ) doesn't insulate quite as well as the double wall gel filled tumbler but it will survive a fall to a tile floor with no problem. Of course you have the get the top too and this review assumes you will get both.Ok - the leak proof claim. If you get the silicone straw then the only liquid that gets out of the tumbler is going to have to come out the straw. But you have to close the opening to the regular drinking hole. This is a simple thing to do and after a couple of mishaps it is easy to remember. With the silicon straw you pretty much have to open it every time you fill the tumbler to keep liquid from being forced out the straw when you put the top back on.My wife loves this cup and as her caregiver I love it even more.

Doesn't break
I'm physically disabled and use a four-wheeled walker and have my water cup on my walker almost always. It has a knack for falling when I hit something or go over a bump, etc. The cup used to break and I was super paranoid about it falling. You know what happens when it falls now? It bounces a little. Yeah. The lid, I love the lid bc it stops spillage. Since it's a travel lid though, it has a little mouth hole to drink from. I ALWAYS use the straw. It has a close type thing but it's also rubber so it doesn't really stay and is kind of useless. When it falls, water rushes out so I do want it closed. So I took hot glue (which is basically silicone anyway) and closed up the opening. It is also easily removed if I ever did want to remove it.

Stinky
I originally bought the pint size in the hippie color to use in my sauna for dumping water onto the rocks. It works great as it can handle the 200° temperatures and stays cool to the touch. I never drank out of it but liked the way it looked and felt so I thought I'd order a couple to actually drink out of. I was disappointed because they tasted like new car smell. I was hopeful that the smell would fade but even after two weeks of regular use the smell was as strong as ever. I had to return them unfortunately. Amazon didn't charge me return shipping because the description on their site says there is no smell.

Lightweight, no bpa, weird smell.
I wanted a different material cup other than steel and plastic. Plastic is not as safe, stainless steel is heavy. Silicone is a safe material and no worries if dropped.Surprisingly this is pretty leak resistant find for a cap with a straw hole and a sippy hole. The cup does not retain heat or cold as good as the stainless or plastic though. If really cold, there is also condensation. There's a weird smell when brand new. After a couple coffee use, the smell goes away.Overall, I recommend!
