Does a great job, fast!
When the time came to drain and clean our outdoor pool, this was the best I could determine from the web/ I was not disappointed. Dropping it in and turning it on was easy, water flowed up and away into our drainage within seconds. Within hours, the pool was drained and ready to be worked on. I love it.

Little life saver
The first pump I bought failed to control the water level after it automatically shut off. It would not come back on when the water level rose, and this caused some flooding if I wasn't around to restart it. I exchanged that unit, and the new one has been working almost perfectly. It cuts off when the water is low, and comes back on when the water rises. I had to buy an adapter to fit my garden hose on it. The pump has been running for about a week now. It keeps the water down and I am comfortable leaving it unattended while I sleep etc. I don't worry about waking up to a flooded basement, as was the problem with the previous unit.

Garden Hose Adapter for use with Great Pump
I was impressed with the moderate weight of the pump which makes it easy to use. Its construction appears first-class and overall well built.I selected this pump for its dirty/trashy water pumping capability. My large garden pond gets a mucky bottom from dead leaves and blown dust which quickly clogged the previous pumps I have tried. I haven't put this one to the test yet, but from its outward appearance, it looks like it will do the job.My biggest concern was could a regular garden hose be used for the water discharge as I did not want a special single-use hose cluttering the garage.Other posts in these reviews did indicate a garden hose could be used with an adapter but did not detail what that adapter was. Turns out it is a little complex, but easily made and all the parts should be readily available at any good local hardware store.Following is a description of how to make an adapter to connect a garden hose to the pump. See attached pictures included with this post.Picture 1 shows the pump and its 1-1/2" Male Pipe Thread (MNPT) right angle adapter. That adapter can be unscrewed if you wish to directly use the pump's 1-1/2" Female outlet built into the pump body.Picture 2 shows the component parts making up the adapter, starting from the pump and ending with a yard faucet Male (MHT) connector. * 1-1/2" PVC Coupler (threaded/slip) * 1-1/2" / 3/4" (slip) PVC pipe adapter * 3/4" PVC pipe connector stub * 3/4" female (slip) / 3/4" male (threaded) adapter * 3/4" female (FNPT) / 3/4" male (MHT) fittingPicture 3 illustrates the parts all glued together.

Done in 4
I'm late in writing a review. I used the pump 4 times..and then it would not work after the 4th time. We are talking a very small concrete bowl used as a fish pond. Took forever to empty and naturally I purchased all the additional hose so I could empty the water away from the area. Big whoop-it just stopped working.

$50 and it lasted 4 years.
Parts rusted out and I used it about 5-6 times to descale tanks less water heaters. Not sure how it wasn’t built with stainless steel parts?

Works well but not easy to find hoses to fit
I bought this pump for draining our pool for some repair work. Based on the descriptions, I thought one of the connectors would work with a garden hose but that did not turn out to be the case. It came with a number of size connectors but I was at a complete loss as to where to get some hosing that I could attach to it. Having been a pool owner for years, I had an old Polaris hose that we were able to clamp on. The pump has great output, so in thinking back, I am sure the garden hose would not have been big enough to efficiently handle the output anyway.

Evacuated the spa in no time flat
The first time I drained my spa, it took literally all day. Started in the morning, and was sopping up the last bit of water in the early evening. Then I saw a video on YouTube where someone used one of these portable pumps. After a lot of research I chose this one and I'm very pleased. My only concern is that the water has to be a certain height for it to work - at least 3 or 4 inches. Don't expect to get every last drop out of the spa with this. I think this is the issue with all submersible pumps however, and not unique to this model.

Study case, light weight ,delivered on time.
It seems to be a sturdy little pump when it works. I have to move it around a little to get it to come on. I don’t know if it’s persnickety or just doesn’t like wher I have/need it. I would probably return it if the return option was still open. It is not so I guess I will just jiggle it when I want it to come.
