yes, don't know if mandarins of this quality are grown elsewhere in a large enough quantity for export. My husband loves them, so though I may not care for the country of source, in this case I just have to accept it. I did once see some canned from New Zealand--don't remember name, not quite as sweet. These are much like clementines, but texture is better as is the flavor after canning. hope this helps

is there an expiration date on the cans? How much time after receiving shipment is typically left?

Yes, every time that I purchased them, there was an expiration date on each can. It was about a year out from the time that I got them.
