Very happy with this sprayer so far
I purchased this sprayer for use on the interior walls of my home, both to save time and to use for an ombre effect in some rooms as well as accent work on other "feature walls." I have now used it twice, and found it to perform really well both times.First, the paint thinning: I was honestly most afraid of getting this part wrong, but found it really isn't too challenging. I used the included viscosity table and cup and figured out that my Valspar Signature Semi-gloss paint needs about 2.5 - 3 parts paint to 1 part water. You also do want to be sure to strain the paint, as indicated (we purchased a large pack of paint filters inexpensively from Amazon along with this sprayer and they work fine). That's honestly the most tedious part, waiting for the paint to drain through the filter! Assembly and disassembly are super simple, making the inevitable - and, let's face it, unenviable - task of clean-up easier than expected. I have been careful to use the included tools to clean every part thoroughly; so far, we've had no clogging issues.Functionally, the sprayer works great! Do be advised that there is a few feet of overspray, so if you're going all the way up and down a wall, the floor and ceiling will need to be covered. We were lazy and managed an accent stripe with just a large piece of cardboard to block window/door frames, but there were some accidents, although the floor/ceiling were untouched. It creates a really smooth, roller-like finish. My best advice is to make quick, light sweeps: if you try to cover everything all at once, it will look great for a few minutes, until you start noticing drips collecting, and they're a pain to roller over and re-spray!My only qualm is that for some reason, the plug would not fit in standard outlets: like it wouldn't go in at all. I had to plug it into an extension cord, which worked just fine, and plug that into the wall. We couldn't figure that one out!So to recap: This works great if you keep it clean, thin and strain the paint as instructed, cover all surfaces you don't want painted, and make quick, light passes rather than heavy coats. Basically, read the manual and you'll be fine. I found it made a tedious process much quicker and easier without being too terribly heavy to lug around. I would recommend this for various paint projects around the house. I'm sure some other products cover larger areas faster and more efficiently, but for the price, this is a great option.

Save Your Money. It Plain Just Does Not Work Very Well at All...
Save yourself money, time and hassle… Please believe all of the negative reviews. They are real.I bought this for doing a few light duty jobs. Really, nothing too heavy. It couldn't even do those jobs properly.Using 3 different kinds of paints I got pretty much about the same results with each. The most challenging was putting down a primer. I had to dilute it with 25% water in order for the unit to work with it. Even diluted so that it was sufficiently thin according to the included funnel flow test, the sprayer did not like it and instead of leaving a consistent, smooth spray across the flat surface it left pulses of adequate amounts of paint alternating with no paint leaving a spotty surface. I was not looking to paint a spotted pony. I was looking to paint a toy box I made.Next, using an interior paint, the results were pretty much about the same. Only a 4' x 4' surface. And finally, using a barn and fence paint for the white picket fence out the front of the house, I also pretty much got about the same results. I stopped using it for the fence after about 3 pickets :(Oh yes, let us briefly mention overspray. It is to be expected with a paint sprayer, but because of the difficulty of using this unit I seem to put a lot more paint on the plastic drop cloth than on the wood. Probably my choice of where to use the tool rather than the tool itself… Maybe. So, not only does the sprayer not work very well for these light jobs, it is also extremely uncomfortable to use. One might expect a little bit of out of balance arm strength being required because of the very nature of holding a weight of several pounds a little bit away from your body. However, that's only a relatively small issue compared to the other deficiencies. This should be the major downside, not one of the lesser ones. The trigger has no method of keeping the spray on constantly without keeping your fingers on the trigger, as is done with a drill or a jigsaw or other types of power tools… You have to hold the trigger in the entire time you're using it. I'm not Arnold Schwarzenegger, but I'm also no wimp. My fingers became tired to the verge of almost cramping before much surface area was covered.Additionally, the motor and housing becomes fairly hot and the design of the grip and trigger puts the top of your index finger and the webbing between the index finger and thumb up against the housing. The pain threshold is approximately 50°C or 122°F. The area of the housing contacting the skin feels like it's approaching if not reaching this temperature. Ouch. (My hand is still hurting from the heat an hour later)The construction of the unit while not quite poor, is not far off. In the picture it looks like this unit is made of sturdy metal with plastic supporting parts. The only metal in the entire unit is the actual brass nozzle and any metal in the electrical parts. Everything else is plastic and does not fit together very well. The parts that look like they are metal are actually plastic with a metallic finish. The plastic retaining ring for the connection between the sprayer body and the air compressor does not like to go on easily, leaving a crack for your air to escape rather than pushing paint if not secured properly, which is very easy to do.Adjustment for the amount of paint being sprayed does not seem to be very effective. I noticed it making a little bit of a difference, but not very much…Cleaning up anything with paint is a bit of a bother, however this tool was somewhat frustrating because of difficult to reach areas. Not impossible to clean, just difficult.I quickly gave up using this unit and went back to paint tray and rollers. Much faster, and much better quality job. Too bad I now have a paint sprayer which is only marginally more useful than spray cans of paint…I hope this review helps you save time and money and hassle.

Nozzle change, thinning properly, works great.
Okay, honestly the initial setup and first time using was very frustrating. After figuring out all the variables with the settings, etc. it works beautifully. First issue was changing the nozzle. The wrench that comes with the sprayer is worthless. Throw it out and use a good set of pliers. The sprayer came with a nozzle already installed. It was the smallest nozzle ever and I don’t really know what it could spray. I had to change it out and couldn’t get it loose. After realizing the tool that was provided was worthless I got a set of pliers and still struggled and pulled the whole housing for the nozzle out in error. It wasn’t really an issue once I figured out how to get the housing back in the sprayer. After putting the housing back in, I was simply able to turn the nozzle and unscrew it. I don’t really know why it was so hard initially. Next thing was trying to spray smoothly. The sprayer was sputtering and throwing paint everywhere and I realized I needed to tighten everything up so the pressure was high and consistent. I tightened the paint container I tightened the connections and it was spraying much better. It still wasn’t spraying great... but better. After emptying the first batch of paint in the canister I refilled it but thinned it considerably more than I did the first time. That was the key. I’ve used sprayers before and never had to thin paint this much. Once I thinned the paint enough the sprayer works beautifully.
