Yes they exist!!!!! Yay!!!!!
We live in an apartment which means that when we set up, like many apartment dwellers, we discovered that the layout for our furniture would put the all-important computer and TV onto an outlet in the room that was controlled by the left switch on a double switch plate. Meanwhile we needed the right switch in order to use the light in the kitchen area. So, we tried just remembering not to touch that other switch but, of course, THAT didn't work out so well and so, The Debate began. I figured that there just had to be a better solution than just sticking some tape over it but the beloved swore up one side and down the other that there just wasn't. Swear to god, I even checked over here at Amazon but, not knowing what to put into the search engine, of course, nothing came up.And so, that piece of ugly tape remained on our wall right there in full view looking like- well, I'll admit that the word I used was NOT tape and wasn't printable for polite company either for that matter. Finally, one day, a switch guard popped up in a random search for something else outlet related and I finally had the word for my search engine so, I started searching. I decided on this model in specific because it was the closest match to the outlet cover and also, DID allow you to use the outlet if needed and, well, you never know because the need for it we have today might not be how we need it later.Well, they work. Beautifully. On the day the package came in, I had it opened and the cover on within 5 minutes of getting home and it looks a LOT better then that damned piece of tape and since it doesn't mess with anything at all, it's extremely renter friendly as well- so, yay!Thank you!

Easy to Install & works perfectly
These guards are perfect and very easy to install. To start off these are not meant to completely cover the switch as many people here have been complaining about either it's not perfect or needs improvement. These switch guards are meant to prevent you from bumping on the switch accidentally but yet enabling you to access the switch through one side. .Example :My apartment has a emergency switch with a string, If I ever fell down and needed emergency assistance all i had to do was pull the string. I have two of these one in the bedroom and bathroom but i kept bumping on the switch by accident but i really didn't want to cover it completely in case i need to have access to it in the future. This is how this product is designed for and works marvelously. The package itself includes two cover guards and No screws. All you really need is a screw driver, Easy as I,2,3.1. Remove the screws from your cover.2. Attach the guard on top of the original cover3. Replace the original cover screws.Note: If you have children or want to completely cover the switch to prevent people from accessing it then this is not a product for you. Having said this i would not change anything from the original design and would highly recommend.

So simple but so great
If you have a switch you don't want to accidentally turn on or off, this is a good way to help avoid those issues. A few places you could use it:1) I have a ceiling fan/light kit that uses a remote control. So the wall switch needs to stay "on" for the remote to function to control the ceiling fan and lights. Put this plastic thing over the switch and you're good to go.2) outdoor light/motion detector flood light. If you switch it off, the motion detector wont work, so a good way of keeping that light operating the way its supposed it.3) also good if you have special lighting in your cabinets or accent lighting you dont want to be turned on except on rare occasion. My kids flip every switch on and those accent light bulbs burn out quick and are expensive. This limits how frequently they are put on.Look, they're not really an eye sore but it does stand out as a cover to a switch. I dont mind it, it saves my guests from going nuts on how to turn on and off the ceiling fan, and keeps our house safe at night by keeping that flood light on. It takes 2 seconds to install... remove two screws, place on top, put screws back in.

Perfect!
The wiring in my house is a little odd... We've got light switches that turn outlets on and off. This is great if you've got lamps plugged into those outlets - but not so great if you've got your computer plugged into one. I needed some way to avoid walking into a room and flipping that switch out of habit. The previous owners had masking tape over the switches, but I thought there was probably a better way. These switch guards are the perfect solution. They protect the switch well-enough that I don't have to worry about just flipping it out of habit, but it isn't completely enclosed so I can still flip the switch if I really want to. They install very easily - just using the same screws that hold the faceplate over the switch in the first place. My only complaint is that they're sold as an add-on item... This meant that I had to come up with $25 worth of qualifying purchases just to order these switch guards. This wasn't too hard to do since I was in the middle of shopping for stuff to renovate my home-office... But it is inconvenient. Especially since not all items qualify towards that $25.

Simple solution for my problem
I had searched various hardware stores over the years looking for a product that prevents accidental switch operation for motion detector lights. Performs well, and allows manual use when required. Glad I finally found what I needed!

Westek Amertac switch guard works great
These switch guards are exactly what I was looking for.... I wanted to keep a switch from being turned off by mistake and I was using a piece of duck tape to ensure this didn’t happen. This is much better. So this works perfectly for the job I wanted to do.

I found these to be great for discouraging people from physically turning off a switch ...
I found these to be great for discouraging people from physically turning off a switch I had connected to a set of smart bulbs. There is a slit along the side so don't expect it to dissuade anyone determined to tun off your switch.
