Sougayilang Spinning Fishing Reel 12+1BB Metal Body Smooth Carp Spinning Reels for Saltwater Freshwater Fishing

Purchased this reel because I needed a bait runner for gar, and didn’t disappoint with this 55” alligator gar!!! Both front and rear drag systems worked as they should and the reel was exceptionally smooth for the price range. I don’t intend to use this reel in salt water but hopefully it withstands catching a few more of these prehistoric fish!!!

The media could not be loaded. In my video review, which isn't actually a review but more like an overview, I touch on what makes this reel so special. Everything about it feels smooth and I don't notice any shuttering or hiccuping going on. Everything functions as it should. I hate making video reviews without actually using the product but I was too excited to showcase the performance of this reel. I have no doubt this reel will hold up against bigger fish assuming you use the proper line poundage and set your drag. I definitely recommend this as compared to the reels within this price category. 5/5 stars for looking great and functioning the way it should.

Bought a pair of these as inexpensive "journeyman" type reels, for freshwater carp fishing. So far they have performed well in that capacity.Points of note:-- I use these only for freshwater carp and catfish fishing-- I have been using these for only 3 months so am waiting to see how they might perform over longer timespans (might post an update.)-- I do not use the rear drag mechanism (only the front) so cannot comment on its performance or robustness.Pros: the exterior seems solidly constructed (haven't yet pulled them apart to examine/service the inner workings); spool comfortably takes 300yds of .23mm braided line; baitrunner mechanism works well; good price to use as a utility reel to save the life of more expensive reelsCons: the spool skirt needs to extend a little lower as tangles beneath the spool can occur with slack line at the reel, particularly with monofilament (we all love untangling 20 yds of line wrapped round the spool axle at the bank, so the makers added that feature gratis); an option to buy with a spare spool would be useful; drag click is a little quieter than some reels, but this isn't a major issue for me as mostly I use electronic alarmsSo far I have landed carp and catfish up to 15lb and the reels performed well.

I bought 2 of these reels last summer and they have performed way above their price point. They are solid, smooth and built to last. We put them through the paces at least 2-3 times per week. When my grandson lost a part, customer service was there for us and got us back on the water fast. Thanks Tina! I can't say enough good things about Soulayilang, they are the real deal and I strongly endorse them.I will say that my only negative comment is that the spool is made such that slack line can get under it and you need to remove the spool to unwind it. This is primarily a user issue but the design could adjusted to compensate for sloppy technique.

My wife bought this reel for me earlier this year, primarily for carp, and it has served me better than I ever expected. The bait runner function has worked flawlessly. It's quiet, yes, but if you watch your rods like me, it's a non-issue. I've caught countless numbers of fish on this reel, the largest being a 20 lb. smallmouth buffalo. The drag system is smooth, as well as the bearing system. A solid reel for an unbelievable price. I feel like it will go at least another season, and if it breaks on me tomorrow, I've gotten more than my money's worth. If you're wondering if a $30 reel can really be that good, just buy it and try it out for yourself. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

This by far is the worst purchase I have made from Amazon these reels are junk literally did not even get to use this item. It was broke outside of the box and not from the shipper their quality control. Well they might not even have quality control. I guess will never purchase another one of their products again, the gears were broke and the handle could not even be screwed in tightly as if the screws are already stripped. This should’ve all been caught at the factory. I will strictly buy penn products for now on.

CNC Machined Spool!!! This is paramount for any big game fishing!! At the price point this is unheard of!! You get an all metal bait feed reel with a spare composite spool all for under $40!! What else is there to say?!!! I will be purchasing more!!
