Geronimo Stilton and the Kingdom of Fantasy #5: The Volcano of Fire

This book was simply cheesetastic! Sorry. Sorry about that. Anyway, I'm a human being too(don't worry, I'm not an alien) so I'll give you a summary.Geronimo receives a strange letter telling him to go to the top of a mountain. He goes with his nephew Benjamin. He soon finds himself in the kingdom of fantasy. His friend Thunderhorn asks him to go to the...um...Explanatorium? He must ask the Chancellor to tell him why there have been frequent earthquakes in the kingdom of the elves. When he does not succeed he reads a huge pile of talking books. One book follows him. Its name is Volume One, or Vol. Vol tells Geronimo that the previously dormant volcano of fire is now erupting,causing the earthquakes. Thunderhorn's sister Emerald also accompanies them. They learn that to stop the volcano from erupting they must extinguish the flame inside it. An evil ship captain named Coldheart helps them. Coldheart tells them that he is actually a kind pirate. They also learn that they have to save Em and their friend Sterling's friend...SPROUTNESS. Sproutness leaves them a magic medallion that grants 7 wishes. Well, that's all I'll spoil for now...Bye!

My 5 year old loves this series and has for the past year and a half. He has had my husband or myself read and re-read this series over and over. He really gets into the characters and loves everything about the books from the maps and great illustrations to the descriptions and introductions of the characters to the way the writing is not just typical one font writing but stylized, colored, and emotive of what the words are saying. My son actually seems to consider Geronimo an imaginary friend and we've made cheesey-full cake and cheese niblets and shared it with Geronimo!This particular series of Geronimo Stilton, "The Kingdom of Fantasy" 1- 5 is extremely creative and full of classic fantasy lore: dragons, witches, gnomes, trolls, giants, elves, fairies, spells, ancient cultures, sprites, sea monsters, love, friends, classic life lessons and Geronimo as the reluctant hero, etc. etc. It's great!When he is a bit older I think these books will be good to assign him to read on his own. I think it's a good way to learn context clues, considering the text puts emotion/feeling into the words via differing fonts and colors.

The kids love these books, but I find them extremely difficult to read. The editing is not fantastic and the random large, small, colored, fuzzy, shiny, swirly, BOLDED...etc. words are very distracting. No joke, the pages sometimes look ridiculous. I understand what they were going for, but there are times I want to slap the book for making me read something that looked like a Photoshop font class.The stories are fine though, and we own the whole series. Like I said, kids really enjoy them.

My son loves this one as much as the others! He is now 7 and has been reading them for a year now, and devours them as soon as they come out of the box! They have wonderful illustrations, great stories, loads of extras throughout, such as recipes, crafts, games, etc. Also has lots of different colored and styled fonts throughout the books, making them even more fun for kids to read...I highly recommend anything in this series. Even our 2 and 3 yr olds sit and look through them, even though they can't read, because of the illustrations...you really have to see them to understand how truly gorgeous they are! Can't wait until the next one comes out...

My 3rd grader loves this series. The fact that there are still pictures, and that the font itself lends description to the words, help him be an engaged and eager reader.

My son is 9 years old and has been reading the Geronimo Stilton books for over a year.They are a brilliant way for young readers to develop a love of reading and nurture their imaginations. The pictures are so engaging and my son is constantly running in to show me and tell me whats happening. My son went from being a VERY reluctant reader to a boy who devours books faster than I can keep up. He now reads more advanced chapter books but still goes back to these over and over.

Children loves these stories! Great to hold on to, passing them on to future generations. These books are adorable.

Great story for kidsEasy to follow although names and things can be hard for kids to read. Kids like the adventure

Sweet and lovely story of gerenimo and wonderful illustrations. Simply loved this book for its simplicity and flow of language, even young child can understand it. Hard bound so it is easy to handle and less wear tear.

This is an awesome book, not just for children but for adults too. I bought the book for my 7 year old child, but found it a great read for myself too. Amazing characters, detailed and amusing description and funny punch lines. The book is perfect if you are trying to develop vocabulary for your child.And to add to above, I got it at an unbeatable price at Amazon. Paper and cover quality is top class too.

WELL THIS BOOK IS AWESOME , BUT USUALLY THERE ARE A LOT OF SLANG WORDS , SO I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITHOUT SLANG WORDS , OTHER WISE IT A GOOD CHOICE

This book had a defect where in the pages were (15pages) were upside down and not in order ... After page 90-104 pages starts and that too upside down ... please sell books that are not defective and I am unable to exchange as the return window is closed now ...

Ordered these for my 7 years old son. He is loving them and it really worked like charm to set daily before sleeping reading habit for him. This was his 5th Geronimo book and the thickest one and he enjoyed each and every bit of it. As a parent i loved the way these books are written and organised. Highly recommended it to other parents for their kids.

so funny! I had a good time reading this book. I like it that Geronimo eats a lot and then later gets sent to dreamland. I was surprised that Sludge actually turned out to be... you know what? No spoilers for now.
