EGT Install Drill Bit & Tap
Worked great. Sharp Bit and Tap. Just what I needed to install my Edge CTS3 EGT Probe.

Excellent for EGT drilling and thread tapping!
I purchased this along with an Auto Meter 8444 EGT gauge for my 2006 F350 6.0 Diesel. After doing A LOT of research, I used no grease and no pilot bit. I did, however, use a spring punch to establish my start point and a large N52 magnet on the drill bit shaft. I drilled very slow with minimal pressure. I paused a few times to dump the attached shaving and the bit worked flawlessly. The tap, I also used the magnet on its shaft. Afterwards I used my shop vacuum at the hole then some bent Q-tips with a small dap of grease. That worked great. Then I used copper based high temperature anti-seize on the threads before tightening the EGT thread plug. This GlowShift drill and tap set was a great product and after taking careful use of it, I guarantee I could reuse it more than once. I'm very happy with the product and I highly suggest it for EGT tapping.

Held up to what I needed
Used this to tap cast iron exhaust manifold. Was wary about it breaking after dealing a few bad reviews, but it did just fine for me and cut threads well. I had previously never cut threads before but it worked well for a first time user! I’d say don’t crank too hard and you’ll be good to go. Just tap some, back it out, and tap some more. Maybe watch a YouTube tutorial first though.

Perfect for installing EGT probe
Used this to install an EGT probe on my '01 Duramax (LB7). The bit had no problem drilling through the manifold, and the tap cut the threads with ease. Just a word of advice: if you are drilling and tapping a manifold while it is installed, drill the hole with the engine idling so that the metal chips do not end up passing through the turbo. I found that tapping the hole with the engine idling led to the tap being off center, so I tapped it with the engine off and then started it again after removing the tap.

It works but ...
Tap has good quality. But the drill bit is strange. It got broken when I was trying to machine drill the head of soft aluminum oil filter holder. Part is destroyed :(. Try to drill on very low speed maybe this can help. Also please note: 'npt' thread has cone shape in opposite to other more common threads.

Drilled and tapped no problem
Regardless of the other reviews, I received this drill and tap to add a pyrometer to my motorhome. I had the manifold off (the old one was cracked). I was able to chuck the drill bit into my drill press and drill right through the manifold, with some cutting lube. I then used a ratchet and socket on the tap, put some cutting oil on it, and ran it right into the hole. I ran it in and out three times, progressively cutting deeper with no issue. I cleaned the chips off each time, and it made a perfect 1/8 npt threaded hole for the thermocouple.

Get your own bit
The tap is high quality! It worked very well. The drill bit broke in 10 seconds, with no pressure on it. Well oiled. More brittle than a popsicle stick.

if you've had experience using this tools you'll not run into any issues
did the job perfectly, when drilling let the bit do its jiob, when using the threader, use a lubricant and go slow the second you feel it getting snug, back it up a few threads so that it can clean up its path and come back fresh, do not back it up all the way though, also use any form of lubricant i used plain water a single spray onto the threader thats all you need

Was a bit weary after reading some of these reviews on the quality of the drill bit. I however had no issues drilling & tapping the exhaust manifold on my Cummins with it. If you haven't tapped a manifold before do your research on the best way to tap. Take your time and don't rush it. Also make sure you to use some grease when tapping to collect the metal shards and keep them from falling into the manifold and going thru your turbo when you first start it.
