Johnston & Jeff Middleton Swift Nest Box 460 x 220 x 220 mm

Well made but a bit expensive. No fixing screws were provided and there is no nest cup or ventilation holes, both of which would be easy to fit and drill. The access hole is the new slightly smaller recommended size and it was easy to fit a camera. I added a partition and the photo was taken before I drilled ventilation holes. Used a Green Feathers camera.

This is a well made nest box, I gave it a couple of coats of yatch varnish before installing it under the eaves of my house. The box will hopefully mitigate maintenance that blocked access to all previous nest. Hopefully swifts will take to it.

No swifts as yet but we have to do a bit more to attract them apparently. The boxes themselves are easy to put up so long as you have a tall enough ladder!

Just right all we need now is the swifts to take up residence next year

The bird house could have done with another coat of varnish. I wasn't keen to put a large area of ply in contact with the brickwork, so I made a bracket, which I screwed to the wall and then screwed the nesting box to that. Possibly just me being fussy.Looks good, just waiting for the first guests to arrive!

A good sturdy box which actually came ready assembled. Likely to last many years under any overhang to a house or other buildings which will keep it out of the worst of the weather. Very nice design from which I made another so two up at present. The only problem (not a problem really) is that House Sparrows seem to like it more than the Swifts.

Nice and sturdy. Cheapest swift box I could find, and looks like it will last a long time.Please take the time to put one up, on your garage or house.Swift’s are declining due to loss of habitat.Ideal as a gift 🎁

I added more robust fittings and a slate roof. We don't want to scale the walls again after a year or two.
