I got it to work in spite of the instructions...
First, know that I'm an experienced trim carpenter--hung hundreds of doors, but this is a first. There was not one thing on the instructions that was relevant. The most important thing to know (how much clearance from the wheels the door needs--3/8") was totally overlooked! The material is quite nice, but I object to them pre-drilling the holes on 16" centers. None of mine could be used. So... if you're good at improvising and modifying, save yourself some cash and try them.

Track is two pieces, makes install difficult
Ok for the price but the track is two pieces. Unless I missed it, it’s not stated in the description. The two pieces makes it difficult to install and does not leave a finished look (in my opinion). Directions are in fifths....last time I checked my tape measure it’s based on fourths 🙄. If you notice in my photo I put a ledger board up into the studs then mounted the track to the ledger board. The other photo shows just one piece of the track. The screws provided are too big for a standard stud unless you pre drill it and are lucky enough to hit the stud perfect center. Whatever kit you buy I suggest a ledger board (1”x 4” x 8ft long) and some good deck screws 2-1/2” long to mount the ledger to the wall studs. We plan on painting the door and ledger white. The door is a Smart Standard 42x84 also an Amazon purchase and was very easy to assemble 👍🏼👍🏼.If you’re an experienced handy person you will be fine if you’re ok with a two piece track, if not I definitely don’t recommend this one for you.

DO NOT BUY!
As an owner of a barn door company I have built and installed tons of doors.I’ve tried various brands and Smart Standard stands strong above the rest. However, I saw these for about $6 cheaper per kit and I needed 4.They got decent reviews and I would say $24.They are absolutely horrible. They only drilled out the holes for the splice connecter that connects the 2 rail parts together on one of the rails. Making it impossible to install the connect the rail together. I had already scheduled my installations with my customers so I had no choice but to make them work.I have to drill the hole in the rail, which isn’t that big of a deal. However, the part to connect the 2 rails together is 2 plates(as pictured) with 2 screw holes and 2 ovals that protrude out and would align with matching oval holes in the rail, but they didn’t drill those holes either! So I had to grind, cut and chisel off the metal ovals for all 4 kits I purchased.I will be contacting Amazon tomorrow and demand some sort of reconciliation. I had no choice but to use them, but they added about 2 hours to my work day and set me back.Luckily, I have a shop full of tools. The average DIYer would have been out of luck.On top of that 2 showed up on time and 2 showed up 3 days later in a giant oversized box that could’ve shipped 20 of the relatively small boxes these are shipped in.Use Smart Standard!

PIECES don’t always match. Unable to use
We purchased 3 kits. One worked fine. The other two had rAils that would not match up. Our installer had to piece meal pieces and parts for one to work. I requested a return on both. Sent one kit back and added the pieces and parts that were unable to be used plus a note and the return label for the piece mealed one inside the box. To save them on shipping cost. They only credited me one! Now I don’t know how to reach out to get my second credit. Had to find a way to make something work as he was on a job and needed to install the doors. Ugh. Will remove the review if I can get a refund in the second one that was put in the other box with its label.
