(The test environment of the battery range is conservative: 170 lbs rider, normal bike, flat terrain, WITHOUT pedaling.).Your wheel is built by hand at our shop in Seattle, WA and can be customized to fit most bikes at no extra charge, including mountain, road, hybrid, trikes, family, and cargo bikes. My Magic Carpet Ride!
I commute about 10 miles per day on my mountain bike. A few years ago I ditched the knobby tires for slicks and that made riding much easier. My route takes me along a well traveled bike lane and lately I have seen a few e-bikes go zipping by me. I did not want to spend big bucks just to check out this e-bike adventure. After a detailed online investigation I settled on the Hill Topper. It is as advertised. Very easy to instal and oh so easy to handle. Really, it is like having a magic carpet under you. Push the button and off you go! Let go of the button and you slow down smoothly. So now I pedal as vigorously as I choose or hit the button for few seconds and speed up. I live in SF and sometimes the wind is so strong. Now, no problem. I just supplement my pedaling with a few timely hits of the button and i blast thru the wind!

THE GRAY BIKER RULES!
I am 84 years old and needed a power assist for my trike. This summer I logged 500 miles on the bike thanks to a little "boost" from thisMotor. Now I don't hesitate to tackle any route knowing I can make it up any grade. It's powerful and quiet. All "golden-ager" cyclistsmust have this.

and I could not be more happy. Installation was basically 10 minutes
I got my 700cc / 20 mile kit... and I could not be more happy.Installation was basically 10 minutes: replacing the wheel, adjusting, and attaching battery and cables. I'm using it daily on my commute to a park and ride. It's from Walnut Creek to Danville (California). Around 9 miles. It's a bit long for a 7am ride, and has some 400 feet differences along the way.Tophill just does it. You give it power, and solves your life, just when you where getting tired or starting to get heated, you push, and recover without paddling. It is exactly what I was looking for. I can use my bycicle, use my work clothes, no sweat, fun ride, low noise, eco friendly. No need to be looking for parking spots. So happy.

Great assist against the wind or up moderate hills, highly recommend bigger motor for commuters
This motor works great for assisting my 11 mile commute to work. It does have a good amount of torque for going up gentle to moderate hills at a good 10+ mph pace. For steeper hills, I always pedal, because it noticeably slows down below 10 mph, maybe 7 miles per hours. I used to take over an hour to bike to work, but now it takes about 40 minutes, while I still peddle vigorously. Time savings is the main reason I bought this motor. I probably should have got a slightly bigger motor, because I wish my commute home was shorter. Going home is more up hill, so it takes about an hour.I like the power output, because pedaling still increases my speed by a few mph. I don't want a motor so powerful, that pedaling is just irrelevant. I love bicycling and the effort of pedaling. The motor does make noise, but it is not obnoxious. Just a werring sound.I have an old steel mountain bike, so my wrists bear a lot of my weight and they have to be comfortable on the bars. So after holding the button, my wrists start hurting. I have found a way around this. I put the button under the front derailer shifter thumb lever and that holds the button nicely. I thought this might be risky, but it seems safe after trying it.Installing the wheel had only one complication. My forks are big round steel tubes, so I added a couple pedal washers to give it clearance from the hub. The hub is rather wide. The pedal washers were as much spacing I could add, and it just barely clears, within a hairs width.I bought the 10 mile range lithium battery. It lasted my 11 mile commute home with a few small hills within only light pedaling on my part. The battery is just thin enough to put between my legs on the top tube. The clips and straps are easy to use and hold well. The good: torque, increased speed and acceleration for holding speed against wind or up moderate hills, easy install, simple, discrete (most people couldn't tell it has a motor), still feels like a bicycle, light enough to pick upThe bad: ergonomics of button, could use more power on hills ( I weigh about 160 lb + 30 lb bike/cargo)Update: I loved bicycling so much during the summer, I bought some studded Schwable "winter" model tires and put on a set of full fenders. With this set up I will be able to ride all winter! If I bring the battery inside to keep it warm the battery life still has a good range. I really should have got the bigger battery and motor. I didn't know how much I would be using the bicycle. The motor really makes me ride much more often. I can't recommend this motor or the bigger motor enough. It will get you on the bike so much more.Update: since working the night shift I have not been riding. If I had gotten the bigger motor bicycling home would have been more feasible, but as it is, I need to be getting to bed at 4am instead of 6 am when I bicycle.

Honestly I am loving my bike kit, I use ...
Honestly I am loving my bike kit, I use my bike daily to get to and fro. This kit makes it a breeze to climb hills that I used to either walk or struggle up. Two small gripes though: It should come with a battery holder that attaches to the bike, and 2: it seems the power of the motor has waned slightly since purchase.

I am thrilled with this kit
I have been wanting an electric bicycle forever. Now for a third of what it would have cost me I have one. I have a bad knee and now going with my friends on a little longer ride I don't have to turn around and head home before the ride is over. I am 68 and put this together and was out on the road in no time. I love this. Pulling the dogs in my new dog cart is just an added bonus.

My life is changed :)
I love to bike. But I live in San Francisco, a super hilly city and I have a daughter I like to carry with me. So for the past few years, I've been limiting my biking to the one flat street near me.Enter this great electric kit..! I'm virtually unstoppable now!!My only con (hence the 4 star review and not 5) is that San Francisco suffers from pretty bad bike theft... And I have to take my battery pack with me everytime I park. Which is quite inconvenient, considering I still need to unstrap my toddler, lock my bike and put the battery pack away all while making sure my toddler doesn't run to the street.I ended up taking the kit to my bike shop for installation, as my original front wheel gave me trouble unscrewing it, but if it wasn't for that, it is very easy and straightforward and I should have been able to do it by myself. Now onto figuring out how to attach the battery pack permanently to my bike...

Easy to Install
Brilliant addition to Our disabled sons bike. Those hills started becoming a problem. This works great. We bought the 20 inch wheel with the 8 mile battery. I am considering buying another battery to have fully charged with us as a back up.
