Very Sturdy
I had seen one of these in a big store and wanted it very badly but that store wanted $160 dollars for it. There was no way I was paying that much for a think piece of plastic. I found this one and thought I'd give it a try. It is still kind of expensive but much less than the other one. When it arrived I was surprised to see that it was made from very thick accrylic. It is very sturdy and install is very easy. Turns out it's much better than the one I originally wanted for much less. Highly recommended.Pros: easy install, thick accrylic makes it very sturdy, nice lookingCons: still somewhat expensive

Why did I wait so long to buy this. It's a perfect for for a busy kitchen!
I should have bought this years ago. Simple to install, holds everything you need to work on a recipe in the kitchen- The clear acrylic is perfect to allow under counter lighting to still pass through when recessed and not in use- Spring loaded mechanism is perfect to hold it in place, even with numerous single sheet recipes on the surface-

Great product; not-so-great instructions if you needed them
I have nothing but great things to say about this handy-dandy cookbook holder except for two things that I will elaborate upon later... The acrylic itself is just under 1/2" thick and feels pretty substantial. The hinges also feel substantial, move smoothly, and appear to be zinc- or nickel-plated(?) to prevent them from oxidizing. All-in-all it performs the job well. However, the acrylic holder itself is constructed from two pieces that are fused together and make the seam where they meet pretty evident. It would have been nice if the acrylic was cast in a molded form rather than cut from a flat sheet. I don't think the cost of the item is merited for the construction method used, but this particular model is one of the least expensive I could find that wasn't totally terrible-looking.My only other beef with this is the instruction pamphlet and template. It's supposed to help you drill the holes under your cabinet without having to actually hold the cookbook holder while marking the holes, but (ha ha ha) when the instructions were printed out, the size of the template was no longer 1:1 with the cookbook holder and therefore becomes unusable... so you still have to resort to holding the cookbook holder while marking the holes (oh well!)Hope that helps!

Love this!
Only 4 screws to install, so very easy to mount, but you do need to have some flexibility to get over your counters, but under your cabinets to do it! Unlike some others who thought this looked cheap, I think it's very well constructed and very attractive. I don't know if the lip on my cabinets is more or less than standard, but even when closed, the holder does protrude slightly below the cabinet. However, being clear, unless someone is looking for it, it's not really obvious. Also, as others have mentioned, do measure your most often used cookbooks, as larger ones won't fit (my yearly Southern Living collections do, but the SL BIble does not). I measured some of my cookbooks prior to purchase, so I knew that when I placed my order, but I had thought I might be able to prop the cookbook up against the cabinet. That doesn't work because with the angle of the holder, any cookbook you want to use will either fit or not - there's no finagling. Working with a small kitchen, I'm trying to do everything I can to minimize space, so this is really helpful.

not good for cook books or legal size sheet of paper.
When installed according to instructions shelf does not drop down low enough for a legal size sheet of paper or a cookbook to be viewed. Might be okay if you are 4 feet tall or standing 8 feet away from the shelf. I am 6 feet tall, picture is taken from eye level.

Excellent product
We got a new set of kitchen knives for Xmas, so I bought this, glued a piece of styrofoam to it, and created a folding knife block that goes under the upper cabinets right where my wife uses them the most. It's worked out perfectly.

BEWARE - REQUIRES 10.5" MINIMUM DEPTH TO INSTALL
Purchased on my own; did not get free. Arrived on time but unfortunately once I unpacked it I noticed that it said it required a minimum of 10.5" in depth to install; I only had 10.25".....so had to return. They refunded my money promptly. Before buying the product I did not see where it said it required 10.5" minimum depth, maybe I missed it somewhere, but don't think so. Appreciate, though, the seller being so responsive regarding the return, so am giving it a 3. The product did look good and sturdy, but just didn't fit my cabinets.

Super convenient and keeps the counters clear
I love this cookbook holder! I mainly use it for my ipad mini that I keep all my recipes on but would fit a large cookbook as well. You can barely see it when it's closed. I don't recommend trying to install it by yourself though. I did do it by myself but it wasn't easy and I ended up making a hole too big and the repair of it was also not easy. Much better to have someone hold it while you drill in the screws. I used the spacers also.
