Fantastic reissue
I read the Smurfs as a child, but I had largely forgotten about them. I have three kids aged 7, 11 and 13. When the Smurf film was shown on TV recently, we all sat down to watch it, but I was not particularly impressed. Then a few months later, I ordered this anthology for the youngest's birthday - and what a pleasant surprise it was! The original Smurf stories are fantastic. They are easily as good as the other childhood classics such as the original Donald Duck stories by Carl Barks, Tintin, and Asterix. The stories are full of humour and surprising little details. There is nothing of the Hollywood schmaltz or cuteness that crept into the film (although credit is due to Hank Azaria in the role as Gargamel). The quality of this hardback edition is excellent, and the book is worth every penny. The original French covers are included as are introductions by Matt Murray. I have already preordered the next edition. Oh, and the children loved it, too!Volume 1 contains the following stories:- The Purple Smurfs (originally known as The Black Smurfs) - a zombie story for kids!- The Smurfs and the Magic Flute- The Smurfnapper- The Smurf King - on the rise and fall of a dictator in the Smurf community.- The Smurfony- The Smurfs and the Magic Flute - with Johan and Pewit.

Doesen't need more!
Appeared in 2013 june it looks reaaaaally nice, the cover has some shiny prints too. I really recommand you to pre-order the next volume too as I did already. :).

Awesome!
Absolutely great!!! I could not put it down, I needed to finish reading the whole book (it contains a few the Smurfs stories) in one day! I love the hardback edition, I have just ordered the second part and I am waiting for the delivery. Highly recommended!!!
