Hubbell-Raco 6236 Steel Box and Rectangular Brass Cover with Single Tamper Resistant Receptacle Floor Box Kit

The Hubbell Raco 6236 Steel Box and Rectangular Brass Cover was purchased to replace the same item (a single-plug floor outlet) that had become worn and unsightly. Replacement of the old device and installation of the new device was simple and quick. There was no need to replace the steel box already in place; only the new recessed receptacle and brass cover were actually used. Additionally, the rubber gasket, which is designed to protect the recessed receptacle from moisture, was not used, because there is no moisture at the location of the outlet, and installation of the brass cover plate without the gasket resulted in a more flush fit against the adjacent hardwood floor.

Just be sure to cut your hole big enough. I was trying to be clever and keep it snug, but when I beat on the metal box to force it into the hole the box scrunched in just a little bit which made it hard to line up the cover. I'm sure if you are more skilled at cutting the right size hole, you'll be pleased. The one thing I don't like is that they've put something over the holes where the plug ins go and you have to push like mad to get something to plug in. And since it's dark in the hole you may have to get down on your hand and knees to make sure you're plugging it in with the correct polarity because it simply does not want to go in no matter which way you try.

This floor outlet was a near-perfect match for one in my house that was installed in the 1920's.Heavy brass cover, quality materials throughout.It's too bad that the supplier never seems to have more than one unit in stock.

Installed this item and it looks good. High quality and added safety to my home. Was a better fit than the original equipment. Was looking to only get the outlet and cover but this total package was cheaper and I'm glad I got it since the new box was deeper than the original and it was easier to fit the wiring into it.

This electrical product was of excellent quality and the price was also very good. You could easily pay twice as much at one of the home improvement stores. The single plug style is hard to find.

I have seen this same product at church and I thought how handy this would be at my own house. Now I will be able to plug in some lamps without running cords over to the wall.The box is sturdy and the brass cover will hold up to a lot of traffic.
