A must-have book for all group counselors!
This is a must-have for all group counselors! This book goes through the four stages of group counseling: Introduction, transition, working, and termination. The group provides examples of each stage, and group exercise suggestions. Each chapter covers various topics, from stages of group counseling to working with problem group members. This is a must-have book for the shelf of a group counselor. It is a great reference book. When I am stuck in the transition stage of group counseling with my group, I can refer back to this book to get tips on how to move forward into the working stage. The chapters are laid out so that the book is easy to navigate. Therefore, if you are only needing to look at a specific section, you can easily find what you are looking for.

Quick, clear read!
This was an EXCELLENT group counseling book! It was easy to read and provided excellent ideas for beginning group therapists. I read this book cover to cover for my group practicum course and thought that I learned a lot. I would highly recommend this for any beginning counselors who need a helping hand in group!

Mass of information but covers all the bases.
There was a ton of great information in this book. In some ways, too much as you know there is never enough time in a class to fully digest all the info. Overall, this book was helpful in looking at various techniques in group counseling as well as many examples and case studies.

Love this book!
Read this for college class. Too bad I rented it during school. I liked it so much that I saved up my money to buy it again later. I am now using this for leading discussion groups at work, but have used the skills mentioned at other times as well.

Great book. Easy to read and understand
Great book. Easy to read and understand. Covered important topics as well as the promised material;Terrible condition. Water damage and rippling of the pages; excessive highlighting. I was very surprised to receive a book in this condition.

BEST book on the Topic
Typically a textbook is a textbook, BUT this book nails it for the topic of small groups.I usually resell my textbooks; however, this one is a keeper for any practitioner of small groups.
