Whitmor Heavy Duty Adjustable Garment Rack-Rolling Clothes Organizer, Black and Chrome

I purchased this for my work & for the price. I'm a wardrobe manager on a show and work on costumes at home. I got mine on a special for really, really cheap. I knew what to expect since I own one already. When it arrived it was a better quality than I expected. It's easy to assemble just make sure to use a mallet to assist in getting the poles into place tightly. I use mine daily for laundry. I load it up with wet costumes and place it on the balcony for items to dry. I like the way this one adjust for the height with metal push nubs much more secure then my older one with plastic flip locks(I've hade it about 8 years now). Yes, this rack is challenging to maneuver when loaded and yes, it feels flimsy when you're trying to roll it loaded up but what would one expect when only paying under $20 for a clothing rack?! If you're rolling it on a carpet it more tricky than a hard surface floor. It serves its purpose well. I plan on purchasing a couple more for my shop and I would recommend them to anyone thinking about purchasing. NOTE: The support poles at the bottom are the key to balance on these racks. When looking for the right rack look for 2 or 4 support poles that are placed far apart. This particular one has 2 a good distance (approx. 9.5"), my older one has 2 that are only about 3' apart causing it to be more flimsy and harder to maneuver. PICTURE: This is in the lowered setting. It is loaded with costumes ready to be bagged up for transport. There is about 30-40lbs of garments on it. I've put heavier and it holds up fine.

We purchased this to use occasionally for parties. So far we have used it twice both times for heavy winter coats. It held up great under heavy pressure, is low profile, and we have easily packed it away for future use. Whenever we have set it up we have not needed to move it around a lot and I imagine if you do, it might not hold up great - it is a little wobbly. I would note a few things, keep in mind how much you are paying for this product, the fact that it is made of plastic, and can be easily put together and taken apart. I think with these things in mind, you can set your expectations appropriately. Barring any production flaws I've read about in other reviews (cracked plastic) I think this was worth every penny. Please note that I purchased this item when it was $12.99 and see that the price has gone up since then.

This has been a great help in the "seasonal clothing transition". Since the closet only holds so much, using this allows for moving "current" out of the way for "upcoming" to be put in. And when "upcoming" is out into the closet, the "current" can either be put into protective storage bins or simply slide the rack into a protected storage room out of the way. I got two, one for pulling "current out" and a second for the "need a break for a moment" as the storage area is upstairs, lol ;) The reason I made my headline that way is because before starting, I thought I had everything in place, but you need to ensure all "joints" are aligned and locked in place. Otherwise, if you go to slide the rack, it may fall over or come apart. Other than that... it is great, holds a lot, very sturdy, and very convenient.

I'm glad I got one of these for our laundry room. We hang our clothes to line dry during Spring and Summer months when there's ample sun and warmth. This allows me to rack up the washed laundry and roll it out into the backyard to hang on lines. I can also use this to hang slightly dry clothes during rainy season. If you don't have lines outside to hang clothes on, you can simply roll this outside, even onto a balcony for drying if you're in an apartment building. This rack has two parallel bars at the bottom that can be used to hold a hamper. The construction and materials is pretty good for the price. Some of this rack is made of steel (possibly aluminum) while other parts are hard plastic. There are no screws to fiddle about with during installation but as others have cautioned, too much weight makes this unit wobble slightly and could potentially take it apart. Over this is a great rack for the money.

One of my Chrome Extension Tubes did not fit, my husband and I both tried. The other, nestled inside the horizontal hanging tube properly, on both ends. So we know it was an issue just with the one extension tube. There was an insert in the package stating to call for replacement parts before returning to the store. So I finished building the storage rack and waited until Monday to call the toll free number. When I called the number there is a recorded message they they no longer send replacement parts and to return the item to the store. The whole rack is built. Im not taking the whole thing apart, repacking it, and sending it back to amazon. That would be stupid. The rest of the rack is fine and works properly. So this review is more about the misleading insert/ customer service. Oh well. It is what it is. I'll just use it as is.

I love this rack! Really solid for the price, materials are good quality and properly finished, super easy to put together, sturdy when assembled. I used a rubber mallet to lightly tap poles into place. Now I'm actually using it to store an English saddle over winter so I've got it as low as possible with a pool noodle over top, but it would be great for a garment rack. Very pleased with this purchase.

The stand arrived on time and was well packaged. The material and finish look fine for the price. However, the height is not as tall as expected. Based on the product photos and description, I assumed it would be higher. In reality, it sits lower than I needed, which affects usability. If height is important for your setup, double check the exact measurements before ordering.

Does the job. Can’t put too much on it as it starts to wobble.
