Great remote start unit on my 2002 F250 diesel
This Crimestopper RS7-G5 was a great addition to my 2002 F250 Superduty Powerstroke. My main reason for installing this was to let my truck warm up even on not-so-cold days. The transmission just runs better when the old gal has a minute or two to get her feet under her before I hit the throttle on the diesel engine. The diesel start delay option is built in and easy to set. I've been using it for about a week now and have been very pleased with it's operation. INSTALLATION: I read everything I could find about it before purchasing and there were no surprises for me during the installation. Even though it's a relatively straight forward installation I have to agree with other reviewers in that you shouldn't try to self-install this (or any) system without at least some 12VDC auto experience. Every car has its own nuances so research, research, research and get a good wiring diagram for your vehicle. Don't be surpised if you need an additional module or something to make everything work correctly. You can G**gle enough to figure things out for your specific vehicle but you'll need to appreciate a challenge or two here and there such as locating wires in bundles as big as your wrist. OPERATION: I have been impressed and pleased with the operation of this unit. The range is really very good and I'm starting the vehicle daily from inside an office behind about three walls of brick, sheetrock and glass. If you're a elelctronics geek like me you can integrate a NodeMCU chip and tell Alex to, "Start my truck" when you roll out of bed in the morning and enjoy that toasty cab as you head to work. :) SERVICE: I contacted the manufacturer through thier website to ask a couple of questions during the install and they were pretty quick to respond with tips and such. Very helpful folks. My experience with unit has been great so far. I'll update this review if there's anything worthy to report.

Buy you will not be dissapointed.
Installed in a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, using a fortin key-overide-all for the bypass, the install was pretty straight forward, only problem I had was finding the lock / unlock and parking light wires in the drivers kick panel; found them eventually and the rest was easy, I also installed the dome light supervision "you need a separate relay for this that's not included". I have left the remote set to use the tach -less (default) start and had no issues so far, if I start getting any hard / false starts I will use the tach wire, I ran this wire into the engine bay just in case. The range is quite impressive but not quite as advertised; I can start the truck from the bottom of the pasture about 1/4m, overall very pleased. Update: 9-27-17 Remote start and keyfobs still working great, have not had any issues with the remotes as other people have reported, but I use a nice leather case for the remote which keeps it well protected, purchased from the big auction website cost $3.00, I also added the Rockford- Fosgate add-on that lets you remote start with your cell phone, simple plug and play, another great feature of the Rockford-Fosgate is it the app has a Google search feature that can locate your car, my insurance dropped by 10% adding this which paid for the unit, also the 1st year is free with very reasonable plans for additional years, the insurance premium dropping with more than cover the cost of the additional years. Up-Date Dec 4th 2018. Well, the LCD remote started acting weird, the lock/unlock buttons worked but the starter button stopped working, I took the remote apart and found that the solder joins had broken on the button from the hundreds of presses, I whipped out the soldering iron and resoldered the joins which fixed the problem, I also set some epoxy around the button to further strengthen it, should last another couple of years. Hope this helps.

Basic Remote Start for a great Price, Not a beginners install tho and doesn't have alarm functions!
So let me start by saying that this is a basic Remote start system but not a basic car alarm install. If you are beginner or do not have 12v experience, dont waste your money and attempt this install. I have years of 12v experience but I've never installed a remote start and I spent about 4 hours installing this on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. For someone that installs these everyday, they can probably be done in two hours. It has some pretty cool features that can be programmed such as setting the amount of time you want your vehicle to warm up or cool down for and allowing your vehicle to start at specific times to keep the block heated up for those nights when the weather is below zero. It also has a horn confirmation feature so you can hear the horn and know your vehicle is started, or you csn look at the remote and see that the vehicle is started too. If I had to go back and purchase it again, I would purchase the more deluxe crimestopper remote start that has an alarm built in too because the RS7-G5 doesn't alert you on the remote or with a horn or siren that your vehicle is being broken into. I have also included a video review below that contains additional information.

cant be beat for the price
Installed in a 97 Honda accord ( does not need bypass because not a chip key). I am not a pro installer. I had no trouble installing after researching and testing my wires. I did not hook up to the tac yet and have not had to adjust the starting time. It does have adjustments for it. several settings for many types of installs. great quality remotes. There are 2 things that I have seen that could be improved. It should come with 1 relay to wire up the anti grind, I cant see a scenario where that should not be installed on 95%. It would add about $1 to the price but at this price point it cant be beat + or - $1 anyway. would just be very convienient. The second thing is when you remote start your vehicle it locks the doors a few seconds after it starts. It should definitly lock the doors first before it does anything. Its just odd if you start it as you are walking up seems every time i put my hand to open it locks the doors. even if you start then unlock it still locks at a specific time after the start. just odd. Love it anyway and would buy again.

Test before installing!! My module was DOA.
Make sure that BEFORE you go through the effort of completely installing the system harnesses you check to make sure the module is alive. I made the mistake of completely installing the harness only to be disappointed that the system did not respond. I called tech-support to verify what method I could use to get a heartbeat or hello world out of the module. Tech-Supports advice was to hook up the two power cables and ground then use the remote to lock/unlock and listen for a relay to switch. They said this was the best and only way to check to see if the module was alive. *I had to call tech-support as this is not listed in the installation manual. As others have mentioned, the manual is lacking. ** A few notes. 1. You get what you pay for. I bought this because it was the cheapest available and paid in debug time. 2. They have two power chords for some reason going to the same node on the PCB. What kind of design is that? Is it cheaper for two smaller gauge wires than one large one? 3. It looks like someone put a lot of time into the PCB, I am assuming they then sent it to a cheap manufacturing facility with loose tolerances, and a certain percentage of these will never work.

So far this is an awesome product for the low price
So far this is an awesome product for the low price! It is definitely not a simple install. If you don't have auto wiring experience and more than general auto lingo, don't even try. I read over the install instructions several times, which are confusing, vague, and out of order. It is an all day project for sure. One major benefit to this unit is it doesn't require all of the relays and resistors that some of the other brands require. I did have to set up a reverse polarity relay for my door locks, and I did do it wrong the first time burning out the actuator on the drivers door. The remote start is such a nice feature to have. I had my son take the Jeep for a ride around the block to test the range of the remote. I'm very impressed with the range! Now that I have installed it once, I think I can do it again in half a day. I will be buying another one of these for my other vehicles for sure. It didn't take much to convince both of my son's they need this too. The remotes are very solid and look like they will last a long time. The immobilizer is required however I cheated my way around that by permanently attaching the head of the only chipped key I have inside the steering column. I have been running the Jeep this way for a while using two regular keys without the chip in them. The biggest benefit is I bought my Jeep without a key fob. Every time I unlocked the door the alarm would go off alerting everyone and their dog that I was getting into my Jeep! Very annoying! This unit has enabled me to disarm the alarm at a fraction of the cost of buying a new fob and having it programed, with the added bonus of having remote start for the hot summers and cold winters! Customer service was quick to answer the phone and my question, I should have used them a few more times. Some of the other features not listed: Wait to start for diesel engines; turbo cool down timer allowing you to leave the vehicle and it stays running for 3-5 minutes extending the life of the turbo; basic programmable start timer; 2 separate vehicle operation from one remote; RPM enabled lock and unlock of all doors; keep running feature, allows you to run into a store with the key and locked doors for up to 20 minutes and the car will stay running, great feature on a hot Arizona day! There are numerous more, but these are things that would have sold me even faster on this product. Overall a fantastic product! Now to see how it will stand the test of time!

If functionality is what you need, functionality you will get!
I've always wanted a remote start system since I live in Illinois, where the winters can suck and the summers can suck. I drive a 97 Audi A6 and I didn't have a factory remote lock when I bought it. I looked around for Viper and other systems and even though they're really nice systems, my needs do not justify the steep costs. I found this set and I can say I am amazed by it. The fact I not only have remote start but a full locking remote too is more than I could've asked for at this price. The only thing I can say is that even though I am pretty experienced in automotive wiring, this system can take a while to install. I was lucky enough to not need the alarm bypass so it made it a little easier. There are a lot of places to look online that will tell you exactly the location and which exact wire to splice to, so make sure you invest time and do research first! As far as the product operation, I am very impressed! The range is affected by your environment really quickly, but I have not been in a situation yet where I had to complain. There are so many programmable options to fit every driving need. If you are looking for a system that will not let you down, and you're not looking for all the bells and whistles that Viper gives, I highly recommend this system!

SOME PROGRAMMING MAY BE REQUIRED, this unit may not be plug and play for you application.
I installed this crimestopper remote start in my 06 chevy silverado, everything as fare a the wireing is correctly done, however this unit is not totally plug and play, some programming is required to get it to work correctly for which i don't have the proper equipment to do, so i will have to find a install shop to do some programing on this unit. All and all these crimestopper units work very well once there all set up. If anything i would recommend buying one of these units that is already setup for your specific vehicle, most companies that sell these will put in the necessary programming and equipment for what ever vehicle you want to put them in making them simi or totally plug and play. Amazon does not do this, it is a blank unit with some programming required. In my case the lights will flash with the horn honk when using the supplied remote that came with the unit when unlocking or locking the doors, but the doors don't actually lock or unlock, i have to use the factorykey fob to accomplish that task. As for the remote start feature, it sorta works, it trys to start but shuts off immediately afterwards. I can however start my truck with the key and then press the start button on the remote and pull the key out and the vehicle will then run for the programmed time limit of 20 mins. Ill get it all figured out👍😎
