Even better than the pocket version!
I had fallen in love with the Sword Bible-OE-Pocket Easy Reading, and had been waiting until I could afford the $35 cost of this version. I will tell you that it is the best $35 I have ever spent!Side Note: If you are unfamiliar with KJVER, it takes the Authorized KJV and changes only the second person pronouns ye (becomes you), shouldest (becomes should), holpen (becomes helped), shalt (becomes shall), etc. Very few textual changes are done, and are strickly things like: to wit (that is / to know), armour (armor), even (evening), etc. This particular KJVER Bible is wonderful in many aspects:1.) Compared to other KJVER's I have read/own, this one is equal in context and script. (The words are the same KJVER setup.) But, this version uses underlining for key words that a reader may confuse or not be familiar with. After each verse with underlined words, a synonym or suggested substitute is given. That's right, they DO NOT change the words. They give a word for word translation, Examples (I used quotes in place of the underlines):Genesis 41:27 And the seven thin and "ill favored" cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears "blasted" with the east wind shall be seven years of famine (ugly - scorched)1 Samuel 23:6 And it came to pass, when A-bi'a-thar the son of A-him'e-lech fled to Da'vid to Kei'lah that he came down with "an ephod" in his hand. (a priestly garment)2.) Italicized words are understood in the original language, but are not specifically on the original scrolls. If you know any other languages other than English, you may know that many words (used in English) are understood in other languages. So, when doing a word-for-word translation, they italicized words that they had to add in to make it a grammatically correct English sentence.3.) There are many integrated features that are not advertised, like: a Scripture Theme Study Guide, a Topical Concordance, "definitions of Biblical terms little used today", A variety of articles and writings in the back of the Bible addressing key topics (dinosaurs, creation, other Bible "translations", and many others from the organization "Answers in Genesis"), prophecy related material, a chronological compendium of mankind after God created us, a Biblical Genealogical Chart, writings about the discrepancies between different Codex (Vaticanus and Sinaiticus), a list of "Favorite Bible Stories" and in what book and chapter to find them, a Guide to Laws of the Bible, what Jesus taught and where to find the lessons, a variety of maps, and MUCH MORE!4.) Each book of the Bible starts out with an Outline (telling you where to find key texts within each book), writings about Authors, and other information related to the book. The outlines are incredibly valuable to someone reading through the Bible for study purposes.5.) The large print can be read by anyone in our family, and the wide margins allow for additional notes to be written next to the versus. This Bible has become our family study Bible overnight...I know that it will Bless your family as well, and give it my highest recommendation!Final note: This Bible has some heft to it, so carrying it around could be a chore. I think this Bible is best suited as a study Bible. I recommend you buy the Sword Bible-OE-Pocket Easy Reading for toting along with you day to day or bringing it to church.

Wonderful Edition of the Bible
I own many Bibles. Among my favorites are The Old Scofield® Study Bible, KJV, Standard Edition (Black Genuine Leather), and King James Study Bible. Both editions are excellent study tools, with copious notes and reader-friendly layouts. Now the Sword Bible is yet another favorite. This Bible does NOT have study notes, as do the first two above - being for the most part a text-only edition, but with many Bible helps, articles, and brief explanatory notes for words that might be unfamiliar to the reader. I won't re-list the various attributes of this Bible, as they are available in the Product Listing. I will say that I am VERY pleased with this volume. The font is perhaps the most reader-friendly of any I have seen in terms of clarity and size. The paper is not the normal Bible paper, but more opaque, allowing for more clarity and less 'bleed-through'. The binding - genuine leather - ISBN: 9781936428007 - is superb for a Bible in this price-range, nice and tight, but supple enough to hold comfortably in one hand. After a little use, it lays flat for sustained reading. (I recommend 'breaking in' your Bible when you first receive it. There are many articles online that will show how to do this. It will ensure that your copy lasts for many years.) This is a wonderful Bible. It may not be the BEST choice for those who have read the KJV for many years, as it tends to explain words and phrases that would already be quite familiar to you. There are many underlined words, which are briefly explained or rendered in synonyms at the end of the verse. Names of God are also underlined. This makes for a substantial number of lines - which may annoy some readers. It does not bother me, and I read the KJV almost exclusively. I would heartily recommend this Bible for students and young people (12-18 years), and also for recent converts who want to read the honored King James Version, but are nervous about the archaic nature of the translation. (That said, I am not a student, not young, and not a recent convert. Nevertheless I plan to use this Bible very often. It's that good.) For those afraid of 'thees' and 'thous', there are none - being replaced with 'you' in its various forms. Obsolete verb endings are also dispensed with: 'desirest' becomes 'desire', etc. The New King James Version did much the same thing, but with this unfortunate difference: the NKJV changed many of the words. This Bible changes NONE. You have the actual King James text. For this price, it is easily one of the best Bibles I have seen.
