Galco Speed Paddle Holster for 1911 5-Inch Colt, Kimber, para, Springfield

The paddle is very small and does not secure the holster very well. This resulted in the holster riding high and my 1911 being away from my body, about an inch. Carrying was uncomfortable and I was very unhappy with the holster. Luckily I found that Blackhawk offered just their Serpa Paddle Platform on Amazon for around $10. After slight modification to the screw holes in the paddle, it fit nicely on the Galco holster. Now the holster rides perfectly and feels very secure. Blackhawk saved Galco and I couldn’t be happier! Now a great holster for my Springfield 1911 Loaded!

I have several Galco IWB Summer Comfort holsters and I like them. My "Loaded" model Springfield 1911 deserved a leather holder vs. a Kydex style holster (I have those too!) I like the fit and finish of the Galco, however, I'd prefer the paddle to be larger -- more like the paddles found on Fobus holsters. Fobus paddles offer a larger contact area and that equates into more comfort to the wearer, especially, when carrying a full size 1911. Other reviewers citied the same opinion and some have replaced them with larger paddles. I was also considering the more expensive Kramer MSP paddle holster at almost $200 a copy. I will give this holster the good old college try and see how it feels after a suitable period of time.

Great product I have a sig 1911 emperor Scorpion and in the beginning it was tight as it would be with any holster but a little plastic bag around the gun stick it in and wiggle it around for a good 30 mins and it's perfect fit. Nice and tight on the waistband it comfortable even being a bigger guy like myself carrying a full size 1911 is comfortable. The retention is perfect and is also adjustable. If u have a sig like me and are worried about the slide profile in conventional holsters this one is the one for you

Galco makes a fine product--period.I have this holster for my S&W .45 1911SC and just recently for my Dan Wesson PM-9 1911 9mm.Fit and finish are outstanding--I personally like the speed paddles for competition and even for every day carry if you are so inclined---retention is excellent with these holsters though it does take a little time for break in --- any fine holster will.I'm certain their are less expesive holsters and I know their are more expensive but in my opinion this is one of the best values around. Shipped from Optics Planet and these guys are great when it comes to having inventory and fast shipping.I highly reccoment this product along with high praise for Amazon and the excellent selections and price points offered.

Love this holster. Great look. 5" Ruger SR1911 fits perfectly nice and snug. Barrel does not hang out the bottom. Now the reason for the 4 star. I think the paddle is to small like others have said. The holster moves to much for me. I am gonna replace the paddle and I'm sure this will be the holster I use all the time.

Great leather, good grip and hold, but the paddle needs to have some more security to stay in place on drawing. It is not easy but it is not difficult to remove the whole holster on the draw. Perhaps I need to tighten my belt. I'd still buy it again.

If you want a top quality leather open-top paddle holster for your full-size (5" non-rail) 1911, you can't do any better. Materials and workmanship are outstanding. Break-in is easy. Thanks to the tension screw, retention is outstanding for this design of holster. M

This is a great quality holster, at a very nice price. It offers a smooth draw, and is shaped just right for the 1911.I far prefer a paddle over a belt-mounted holster, as the latter requires a hefty belt, tightly cinched, in order to get a clean draw. The paddle is secure, yet can easily be dismounted when needed.I would certainly recommend this holster to any 1911 owners looking for a nice concealed-carry rig.
