Ariens Company 946154 22" Walk Behind Trimmer

Bought from True value in Southwest Texas. First couple times had no issues. Went on a trip for little over a month. Tried starting it, no-go. Replaced gas and still no start (btw recycled gas to old walk behind mower and had no issues with it running). Called to Ariens about problems and was on terminal hold (Please wait, we're still researching message). Was then told I need to use Mid-Grade octane and call back if problem still persist. Numerous calls later I was then told I only had a 6 month warranty (I provided a copy of my receipt and the cover page showing what my warranty was suppose to be but was informed the manual was wrong). I still have an ugly lawn decoration (was tired of it taking up space in my shed) so beware when you purchase one.UPDATE: Still not repaired. Ariens refused to honor their warranty. They're claiming I should have contacted Briggs Stratton. I'm sorry, you sell the assembled equipment then you should be responsible for any failures. Don't make your customers jump thru friggin hoops.UPDATE 7/15/2021: got tired of Arien's and Briggs Stratton failure to honor warranty so I tore apart carb and found the problems. 1) jet needle improper size (like dice in a cup sound) 2) airways were not drilled completely thru (a lot of metal burrs and scraps which means poor quality control) 3) no gaskets installed (everything was metal to metal). Put a different carb that matched up from a dead mower and everything runs much better now. Would I recommend?.......a big NO WAY unless you can do rebuilds yourself and $$$ is way under 200 since both companies warranties are useless.UPDATE 8/2022: after rebuilding carb, boring out jets(manufacture didn't clean their mess up), putting grommets in where string goes thru, and placing a fuel cutoff valve... it's much easier to start and not as picky on fuel anymore. After the corrections it has been working good since. Would I recommend this is still big fat NO (unless your into rebuilding/correcting manufacture screwups)

Purchased one year ago for the intended use of cutting grass around my 6 acre field. PROS: The large wheels are necessary to maneuver the rough ground. Kohler motors are tough and reliable, and they start first pull. The adjustable swivel head was the deal maker, no need to jack-knife the machine in and out with each step.. The string replacement lines are easy to install. This walks through tall grass and tough weeds. CONS: the locking mechanism for the swivel head is a little hard to reach and it could have a more positive detent system. the string height adjustment is funky to set up with the spacing of the washers, the competitors are much easier to adjust. i need to change the height from the field setting to the yard trimming height which takes time. i recommend the Ariens 22" walk behind trimmer 4 1/2 stars.
