Galco International was founded by Richard N. Gallagher in 1969 as a small family business in Chicago, Illinois. Known then as the famous jackass leather company, Gallagher specialized in holsters constructed of horsehide. In 1980 the business was moved from Chicago to its present home in Phoenix, Arizona, and in 1983 the name of the company was changed to galco International. ALREADY famous for high quality and innovative designs, galco gained worldwide notoriety when the jackass shoulder system became a recurring character on the popular 1980's TV Series Miami vice. In the new century, galco continues to be a favorite choice of Hollywood, appearing in more films and TV shows than any other holster maker. Perhaps more importantly, galco remains a Major force in real-world firearms usage. Law enforcement personnel around the nation and across the world - from local departments to the largest Federal agencies - are issued and use galco products. Galco's array of law enforcement products ranges from concealment holsters to rifle slings approved by the National Tactical officer's Association.

Attention Para Owners!
I have a P14-45 and I bought this to fit that. The challenge with any such fitted leather holster is breaking it in. That's why reading the instructions is so important! At first I didn't and was quickly disheartened when I tried to slide my 1911 into the holster... way too tight! You have to wrap the barrel/slide assembly in a sandwich bag or two and slowly wriggle the gun all the way into the holster. Then let it sit and sit and sit for awhile and try to torque it a little back and forth. In about 15 minutes you'll be able to go from NIB holster to holster fitting your gun, but if you want a quick draw ability like me, you might spend a little more time loosening it up. Wrapping the gun in plastic not only protects the gun the first time you stuff it in and things are tight, but forces the leather to stretch to the size of your gun plus a little more, meaning it should stretch enough that once the plastic is removed, you can draw the gun from your waist without taking the holster with it. Unless that is your plan.I'm sure the bad guys would be confused if you did that. The main point here is that this works great on full size Para Ordnance double stack and single stack 1911's. And it looks pretty. Which is important because this holster is not cheap, and everyone knows the law abiding folks are the only ones that use holsters in the first place, and that it is all about making a fashion statement. Heck, just toss out the gun and wear the holster to your next cocktail party.

Classy holster
This a beautiful holster for my equally good-looking Government sized 1911's. I'm very glad I got the Havana (Burgundy) color. To break it in I wrapped a pistol in plastic wrap, inserted it in the holster, gave it a few twists to stretch the holster, and left it in over night. The fit is perfect. I would say that this is worth the price premium over the alternatives!

Great holster. Thick leather. Tight fit but easy to draw once you break it in.

High quality, easy draw
I bought this knowing Galco's quality. The leather has an excellent finish and the gun fits snugly but still draws easily. Before this I carried in a Fobus but it started to mar the finish. My only complaint is that the paddle isn't as large as the Fobus and doesn't quite carry as well. Overall, I would recommend it. Good leather and supporting an American business

Kimber Custom TLE II 1911
This holster is exactly what I was looking for. I use it for competing in USPSA. It takes a night or so with the gun in it to break it in. But after that it fits like a glove. perfect retention so it doesn't fall out, but also has an easy draw.

Super Fit &Finish
Really good leather, finish and construction. The fit is superb after following break-in procedure with the plastic bag as instructed. Most secure non-kydex holster I've found.

Substiture
I never received this holster. I received a similar holster that is functional and fits my gun. Not the holster I ordered.
