No setup or pairing was necessary!!!!
Have only owned this for a day but feel the need to leave this review because of the beyond simple setup. My LG Smart TV is at least 10 years old and the original "smart" remote has been giving my trouble for 6-7 years. A couple of years ago I looked into replacing the remote with the LG version but the cost was over $100 for just the remote. Since we mostly use a fire stick it wasn't worth it. Things have changed now the original remote in now completely dead and this one claimed to be compatible so I took a shot but will admit I was worried about pairing it to the TV. I spent a couple of minutes in the TV's setup screen and couldn't find anything. Went online and it mentioned hold the start button and had a few more instructions that I never needed. The second I touched the power button on the new remote the TV turned off. I hit the power button again and it turned on. The volume buttons worked as well, essentially right out of the package. I was shocked but extremely pleased.

Poor quality
I purchased this twice within 3 weeks. The first remote stopped working after 1 week. The power button gets stuck in the remote and doesn't work and also disables other buttons when it happens. I returned it and replaced with same item and the same thing happened on the replacement after a week and a half.

Purchased in March of 2025 and it’s already stopped working in August 2025.

Works great, very happy with remote
Has 3d controls and thumb wheel for selections and channel changes. Other than not having the mouse pointer function it works great. It does not have to be close to TV or directly in front of TV for it to work. Worked out of the box and did not require any programming.

Slow response
The unit works, it just responds slow. Every action has a slight delay. But it does work.

Good design.
I purchased this remote with the idea of gutting it and putting the working guts of my original remote into this shell. Doesn't exactly fit but it's good enough. Needs adjustments. 5 stars because is made of good molded plastic. Buttons are nice.

Had to modify the battery tray before it would work.
The battery compartment is poorly designed or constructed and it didn't work as received. I was able to fix it but I shouldn't have had to.
