Obvious why it’s cheaper than others
The practice necks at Guitar Center cost twice as much but are higher quality. On this one, the strings are sloppy, floppy and loose. The solution should be to use the included Allen key but I had to disassemble the thing, tighten the screws and bits then re-thread the strings. Once I did that, the strings had the tactile feel of a real guitar. It’s a pain but needed to make this work. The plastic is decent quality but the fretboard wood is cheap and has a few splinters on the edge. I would not recommend this.

Useful, especially for beginners....
I'm a complete beginner on guitar, playing about two months now. I've found this item to be pretty handy, particularly when I don't have access to my instrument. And speaking of instruments, this product is not one! It is a soundless tool that gives you a basic simulation of a guitar neck. It's something to place your fingers on and run through chord shapes. The spaces between the strings are a bit wider than my own guitar, but that's not too much of a bother. The strings themselves are steel, and can be adjusted with the provided wrench. The nut is flat, so even with tightening, the strings lay flat against the fretboard - there is no height, so there is no "action." Still, I think this is a useful tool for finger placement and chord memorization.....

Excellent affordable teaching tool for the beginning student
I'm learning to play the guitar. I'm an absolute beginner. With this product, I can keep it in my purse and practice anywhere...which I have. It's great to use while waiting in the doctor's office, at a salon, restaurant, on an airplane...anywhere, without disturbing the public so I can practice when I'm away from home. Also, my fingers hurt when I play the guitar, so using this practice guitar neck has helped my fingers develop calluses, develop my inner ear and also allows me to identify the names of the notes on the strings without the heaviness of holding a guitar. I love it and recommend it highly. This would also be useful for group guitar lessons if each student had one.

Inexpensive Practice Tool
It is what it is—an inexpensive practice tool. It’s small, lightweight and compact. I wanted one of these to work on my chords at home as well as take on an upcoming cruise. I didn’t want to spend much money and this one is adequate for my needs. I keep it on my end table to use while watching TV. Quality is adequate. Sliding closure is handy for travel.

NOT AN INSTRUMENT!! I LOVE IT
FIRST....If you are looking for a practice guitar, STOP....this is not it! This is NOT a playable instrument!! You can increase the tensions on the cords, but for practice purposes, NOT TUNING!! This is designed to practice in SILENCE, which is why I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I can practice my chords and more importantly my transition speed without always having to carry my entire guitar with me..... because my guitar dosent fit in my pocket, and not everyone appreciates when i grab my guitar because I feel like practicing while they are..... I dont know....talking, or watching a movie, or, mostly just talking. Use it for what it is for and it is PERFECT. :)

Actually Quite Good
I read the bad reviews, but it is actually quite good, especially for the price. I mean, its there to practice chords when you don't want to lug your guitar everywhere. What ya'll expecting, lol. Btw, it was easier to adjust the strings than expected and I got it to feel a lot like my guitar. Maybe its because you all are using low action guitars, but my guitar is high action so the design is just right for me.Would recommend.

Garbage.
Total garbage. It wasn’t worth returning it.Fretboard can detached 5 minutes after owning it. Action is so high it’s unusable. Strings never retain tension.Spend a few extra dollars for a quality unit.

Just for finger placement. Don't strum
It does help with learning chords. It is horrible sounding.Just use it for practicing finger placement, I bet the sound of it could ruin your sense of tune.
