Good grease. Exactly as advertised. I find the jar to be just the right amount and handy to use for gunsmithing and other tasks.

A little goes a long way.
As with other Birchwood Casey products, which I have been using for many years, this product really does a great job. A little goes a long way, so the price if right for the amount you get. It performs well on blued and Stainless Steel. I highly recommend it for any firearms application.

Great lube
Perfect size for the DIYers. Doesn’t get gummy or break down. Very high grade lube for those friction surfaces.

Understand the limitations/intended purpose and I think that there is a lot to like...
I'll never understand why gun grease companies don't advertise the NLGI (thickness) of their products. This product is definitely on the thicker side - probably close to a NLGI 2 (similar to bulk grease tubs at walmart), just a bit thinner maybe. Probably not the most ideal grease for lubricating actions, though I'm sure it would work in a pinch. That said, the purpose of this grease appears to be more of a protective coating and my initial thoughts on it in that role are extremely positive. Rubbing some of this into a microfiber cloth and wiping down/"buffing" really makes a difference. It brings out the luster of multiple different types of finishes (stainless, parkerized and blued). Once rubbed in/buffed, it surprisingly doesn't leave the metal as greasy/slick as I would have otherwise expected. Based on that experience and other reviews/feedback, I have no doubt that this is providing a good protective coating on the metal. I could also see this being applied thick as a long term storage option. In short, initial thoughts are that this product is great as a finish protective measure/rust preventative but just mediocre as an action lubricant.

I do not own a firearm. But what I use this for is to coat my slides on my French Horn. the water based coating gets hard and sticky, and has to reapplied every week or so. this Universal grease is great, I can leave it on for months, the slides do not seize and does not get hard. been using this for 20 years without any issues Fantastic stuff.

I much prefer this grease over the white lithium grease products I previously used on my firearms. Provides excellent lubrication on the rails of all my semi-auto pistols - stays where you put it! Of course, it is famous for its rust prevention properties. It's the only grease I use in the gun room anymore. Nice big tub, it's going to last a long time.

Perfect on metal to metal surfaces. Thick and holds up

Not only does it prevent rust, but it also works great as a lubricant, too. I use it on choke tubes, O/U hinges and the mating surface on the receiver. It stays on and lubes well. The jar is huge and will last for years.
