Party Girl: The Girls, Book 1

So over the top that it's irresistible
This is the third or fourth time I've read Landon's story and even while it can be silly, and slightly derivative, and rather unbelievable at times, there's just something about the utter sweetness that keeps me coming back when I need a mood lift

"I am strong. I am smart. I am courageous."
I LOVE Landon ... and Max ... and Miko ... and Taylor ... and Brody ... and Rachel ... sensing a pattern ... yep I LOVED this book!! I couldn't put it down!! I am first and foremost a romance lover but this book while it had some romance in it it wasn't the focus of the book and I still LOVED it which says a lot in my book!!"If I had a power color, it would definitely be sparkle."Party Girl was a chick-lit book about a charming southern girl from Texas who wanted nothing more than to be a party/event planner. So after lots of hard work and saving Landon Brinkley lands an internship at a reputable event planning firm in LA. She thinks all her dreams have come true, she is thrilled to learn from her idol, the greatest party planner in the biz Selah Smith ... her new boss. However things go nothing like she planned and Selah is nothing like she thought.Landon aka Brinkley (because apparently Selah can't be bothered to use her staffs first names) learns quickly that Selah is simply the face of the company, and not hands on at all so she doesn't get a mentor she simply gets thrown into the shark tank. However she meets Miko her first day at SSE (Selah Smith Events) and they become fast friends because Miko sees herself in Brinkley, back when she first joined the team at SSE. Miko was by far one of my favorite characters in this book. She also quickly meets Taylor, head of production and office hottie and they also become good friends, and with the help of these two she finds her way navigating through chaotic situations and party fails. We also have Landons roommate Max, she's just the best friend everybody wants to have. Bartender, tough exterior with a heart of gold, who would do anything for her friends. Landon also meets Brody Ashton, Max's super hot, super successful brother. He and Landon get super close but she backs away several times because she is scared and has never really had a relationship before, and Selah has her eye on him which causes Selah's claws to come out.Oh Lord, Baby Jesus in the manger!I’ve never been in this position before with someone who looks like him, so I panic.I throw my hands up between us and screech the first thing that pops into my head.“Don’t try to kiss me!”Dear Heavenly Father, if ever there was a moment for the rapture to come and spirit me away,it would be so great if it could happen right now. While this book did not focus on romance it had its fair share of electrically charged moments, throw in some drunk girls, some workplace drama, crazy clubs, the sprinkler and you've got Party Girls. This was a great book and I can't wait to read more from Rachel."That’s why they call it fallin’, because it happens before you have time to stop yourself.”

Tote Adorbs!
First published on (...)This is a book that I picked up on a whim for the most superficial of reasons! I love the author’s instagram feed. I feel like it just adds a burst of colour, style and humour to my day when I see her photos so of course I wanted to see what a book of hers would feel like. The answer, pretty much the same as the above!First Line of Party Girl by Rachel Hollis:“I’m singing….or, really, bellowing might be a better word.”My Thoughts on Party Girl by Rachel Hollis:This book is just what you might find under a definition of totes adorbs in a modern slang dictionary! From the start to the end, it full of colour and glamour and fun. Landon has moved to LA to work with a famous party planner and she is determined to learn everything she can about party planning from her idol. She quickly learns that she has the boss from hell though as Selah’s main skills are sucking up to clients and berating her staff.I loved how smart and ambitious Landon was. She is such a positive thinker and knows the meaning of hard graft. The events that she worked on are all described in their full chic glamour and I could visualise just how stunning they were. It was one of my favourite parts of the book and even the hustle and bustle and mini disasters were fun to read about. It also features a lot of fashion and descriptions of what the characters are wearing. Which is something I personally love but I know it’s something that lots of readers hate so I just want to put it out there. It’s description heavy in lots of parts about the clothes, the parties, the locations but it not in an annoying way, just in a way that makes you feel like you are flicking through a glossy magazine. The relationships in the books are a lot of fun too. Landon’s roommate Max is a character I was intrigued about so I’m happy to see the next book is all about her. And the romantic plot was just the way I like it in a chick-lit book, it was romantic, funny and not overly graphic. I wouldn’t spoil the book for anyone by saying just who HE is but my money was on him from the beginning. Predictable ? A bit but when you are enjoying it this much, who cares!I picked up this book on a Saturday when I wanted a feel-good book and it didn’t disappoint. I had a big goofy grin on my face during the overture moment at the end and felt happy at just how it all ended. Mission accomplished!Who should read Party Girl by Rachel Hollis?I’d highly recommend this to you if you are looking for a feel-good, happy book that features a loveable main character, a romantic plotline and lots of beautiful, glamorous events. Fans of Aven Ellis, Lindsey Kelk and Sophie Kinsella should also enjoy this one.

A Character’s Life Being Literally Almost A Party
This kindlebook of the Party Girl by Rachel Hollis has some sensational details. The main character of the book relocates from her hometown of Texas to California for what is a life-changing decision for her on multiple fronts. The reader is treated to multiple people from various walks to life that are featured in the story including high profile people who I am guessing might be partial influences from men and women that the author has met andor heard of in real life. Fortunately I paid a bargain price for this kindlebook that appears to be a fictional story perspective-get an idea on how event and party planning/event party planners are written into stories. The only caveat of this story I had seen is how the main character of the story at first bases in her decision to stay in California on her career and money outcome. I understand why this is so because that is the path that appears to be what is commonly accepted/taken by American society standards. I just respectfully disagree because I feel it is more important/beneficial in the long-term to pick a place/state/area you would enjoy living in long term regardless of your career status. This way if you career situation shapes to be differently than planned then at least as consolation you are in an area that was of your own choice to live/reside. However, aside from that caveat The Party Girl by Rachel Hollis is an intriguing kindlebook.

A great read
Ok, I will be honest this isn't my type of book as but after reading so many Japanese thrillers I decided I need a break from all the 'death, rapes and casual cruelty'. This was wonderful light relief and with a sweet romantic story for good measure. We have all been there, our first job after University and culture shock of colleagues, horrible bosses working late and just getting sucked into all sorts of stupid drama. I really felt for her and totally understood how she must of have felt. I adored Landon's' resilience, grace under fire, strong moral backbone and strength of character. She was my kind of gal. The supporting characters are well rounded and relatable. I will read the rest of the 'girl' series with relish.

Fun story
I enjoyed reading this book. The romance side of it was very cliche and predictable. It was obvious from the beginning who she'd end up with. Landon annoys me sometimes because she is so naive and clueless as to other people's motives... but I suppose that is her personality. By the end I found her quite endearing. I would have liked to see more progression in her job. It seems that she started off poor in her job and when she was promoted she was suddenly amazing at it (with some help from her friends). I also would have liked to find out what happened to her boss.Still, it was enjoyable and I am glad I read it. I love the event planner theme. It was very predictable but I enjoyed it.

A great read
Loved reading this book. The storyline is very much like "The Devil Wears Prada", however, you just can't help but get behind Landon (Brinkley)and keep your fingers crossed that she succeeds. I'm not going to say whether she does or not, so to find out you'll just have to read this book yourself. The book itself is very well written, excellent descriptive characters and just an all time great read - loved it. I have the others lined up ready to read. x

Huge fun chic lit
Shameless name dropping, real and fictional, the excitement and glamour of life as an events planner with authentic detail and as a trainee in LA, larger than life characters, this book is just cheery fun. An easy light read with a cherry and a cocktail umbrella on top, I thoroughly enjoyed this.

2.5 stars
This was a good read. Too much event planning and not enough romance, hence my 2.5 stars. The storyline was a bit predictable and funny with a happy ending.
