The Locker Room: A Bookworm Falls for Jock Standalone

I really wish I would've read the reviews
Spoiler alert but important information....This book was awesome until the end. The relationship and dialog was spot on. I was very excited to have finally found an awesome book, I have read only decent books lately. I really liked both MCs very much. I thought the bet was dragging on way too long, then the author took a sharp left turn at the very end. The h breaks up with the H so he can play baseball and she needs to finish three years of school. Except he gets drafted into the same city she lives in, so I don't understand her reasoning. Then they are separated for EIGHT YEARS!!!! While she goes on to have boyfriends and he dates actresses and models. Then they happen to run into each other and all is fine. This may not bother other readers but it was written awfully IMO. This is a great author but this ending really really pissed me off. Sadly I have lost trust in this author. What a huge waste of time. Luckily I borrowed it from KU and didn't spend any money on it.

Rename the book
Wow! This book started really well. I thought Emory was funny and Knox was sweet in his persistence. Potential spoilers to followFirst why is this book called locker room? The book summary was misleading. They do not even go into the locker room for anything! The bet was an annoying side plot and was where this book started from being mildy annoying to a nightmare!Thought Emory was a tease and a martyr. I was not interested in Knox enough to really hold my interest. Started skipping pages hoping for it to get better. This is the first book I actively hated and will NEVER read another book by this author. That is how strongly I hated this book. I wish I read more reviews than relying on 80% of the readers giving it 5 stars! Like what did they read?

*Spoiler* Do not read if you don’t like an 8 year break up
I’ve read plenty of books where I didn’t like the ending, but truly this was the worst for me. I feel like my time was wasted getting so invested in these characters and their relationship just for it to end for 8 years and them to date and sleep with other people before a quick ending where they finally get together. I’ve never written a review before but the moment I got to the “8 years post break up” and skimmed the end I immediately had to write a review. It was just incredibly disappointing. And I liked Emory through most of the book and Knox I loved, but she just became a whiny insecure character and him the exact opposite of a character he had been up until they broke up where he just gave up. I get when a writer wants to go for a surprise ending but this made absolute no sense for how she characterized Emory and Knox and ruined a really great romance story completely.

Knox Gentry will be everybody's next book boyfriend. This book! It SLAYS in the best way.
If every Slow Burn were this friggin' H.O.T. I'd never read another genre. Hands down, a big sexy laugh out loud winner. This page turner kept me up all night. ”I FLOVED IT. FLOVED FLOVED FLOVED. Emery and Knox are probably my fave college couple. There. I will recommend this book for ages. Meghan Quinn is my slow burn romance crack dealer at this point. You need this book. The Locker Room is such a special book. Sometimes a story delivers great character chemistry. A writer finds a seam, you know that chemistry gold? And she conjures up a pair of perfectly flawed and perfectly matched lovers. Add in Quinn, the emo-writing queen’s warm, loving narrative—her A-game writing skills on full display—and The Locker Room is a massive homerun. This book…. I don’t have words. Well I do. So here goes. The Locker Room is a romance to savor, to read over and over. This review is a little different, which reflects the out-sized reaction I had to reading it. Confession: I've never contacted an author to discuss a story. Ever. UNTIL NOW. I needed more. Em and Knox’s journey tied me up and I wasn’t done, I needed an outlet for all my emotions around their incredible journey and the sizzling, almost greedy perfection between these two. So I legit reached out to Meghan Quinn (gah, total sweetheart) to swoon and purge and emote and let out ALL THE FLIPPING FEELS that Em and Knox’s story gave me. It’s excellent.Knox Gentry… Easily gonna be everyone’s next book boyfriend. He’s simply everything. Sure, he’s drawn like a beautiful god born on Mount Olympus, but it’s his patience and kindness, his love for Em and how he expresses himself that keeps you swiping to the HEA. I won’t spoil this story, but Knox, in a very real and visceral way, he pulled Em back from an emotional, isolated abyss and he made her believe again. He’s her lobster.Emery is a jagged heroine, shaped by an indelibly difficult relationship that ended. She lives with her sorrow like its armor, yet she’s so damn fragile. She’s a student first and that may be a tearjerker right there, when what she really needs is the love of another. And sometimes those bonds of fear and the scars inside hold us back, make us doubt ourselves so much, we need fictions like this one to cope. AND we need Knox. A fairytale Prince Charming if there every was one, and he’s also a FlockHot life-sized stress-reliever.Their courtship was so sweet and I loved the slow burn, cause it was so well grounded and real. And it’s a slightly reverse trope. Emery’s reluctance to fall was so deliberately laid out, when she finally did, it felt inevitable. It pleased me immensely to read a story where both lovers get that they’re falling, and MQ indulges us in their sensual relationship full of denial and comfort, and sometimes verrrrry dirrrrrty pleasure. It’s incredibly hot and they are deeply in love.Meghan Quinn has slayed me. I am not over this book. It’s taken me days to write the review, I am soooo moved by this couple. I mean, I’m NOT OVER IT. Gulp, I may cry again, and I KNOW I’m not the only one. I love this pair. The cover, the blurb, don't do this story justice. They're not even in the same VICINITY of how moving this love story becomes. Read and repeat. An incredibly well-written love story. I loved them together. Loved them!!!! If there is a lesson, it might be that once you let go, it’s too hard to go back, and life changes so fast. And a massive reader thank you to Quinn for sharing her writing gifts with us. And oreos. yum!

Hated the lead female Emory
I have spent my holidays reading Megan Quinn's books and there is a pattern - the male leads make sacrifice after sacrifice for the lead female (Emory in this book; Rosie in 'The Virgin Romance Novelist'), and the lead female treats them like dirt, due to stupid reasons in their past. I mean, come on, what is wrong with these stupid females? I found myself muttering, "I hate you Emory/Rosie, I hate you so much!!" as I read the books. I wanted to DNF them, but it's hard for me to do that, I force myself to read to the end in the hope it will get better. And for Emory to push the hero away for EIGHT YEARS?????? you gotta be kidding me!! I hated it -- loved Knox and Carson but hated hated hated Emory.

Not really an HEA in my romance world
Up until they broke up I would have given this book a 7 out of 5! I loved the banter between them and his determined pursuit of her. But everything I loved for almost the entire book was erased when it took eight years to get back together. I don’t consider that a happy ending. I was extremely disappointed after all that buildup. It’s like taunting me with a new Mercedes and swapping it out for a used Chevy.I will read another book by this author because most of the book was amazing. However, if the ending is not consistent with the rest of the book, that will be the last one.

Everything you want in a book and more!!
I honestly cannot put into words how amazing this book is! I was genuinely wrapped up in knots throughout and couldn’t put it down from the moment I opened it. Em and Knox are fantastic, the humour, emotion, quirkiness and passion is unbelievable throughout and although I laughed a lot at their quick wit and sass, I also had tears, anxiety and a racing heart throughout their journey and felt invested in them and I didn’t want the book to end. This is a story that will stick with me! One that I will go back to wanting to read about their journey again and again just to feel that connection and the emotions once more.A MUST READ!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hilarious!
Meghan Quinn has done it again! She has managed to have me laughing out loud in public looking like a crazy person! The locker room was perfect. What I did not expect, was that sudden twist and heart ache. That was a raw moment and I did shed a few tears.Thankfully all was right in the end and The Locker Room has now been pushed into my top 5 favourite of Meghan Quinn's books!

Fantastic book...
Wow just wow!! I absolutely loved this book. Knox and Emory are a beautiful couple and I enjoyed every minute of their relationship. There's laugh out loud moments, soul destroying heartache and most importantly toe curling romance. I cried so many times and held my breath when things finally fell into place. I was gutted when I finished this amazing story and was left wanting more! But all good things must come to an end, I suppose. Another fantastic book by Meghan Quinn and I can't wait for the next instalment of this Baseball series.

Brilliant and loved it.
Crikey I really love these characters, not only the main couple bit all the supporting cast. It made me laugh, it made my heart wrench and I was there coaching them in my head, shouting and commiserating as necessary. Goodness me or was worth the read
