Awkward to learn, buy quite powerful for the price after you go through the tutorials.
I should give this program 4 stars because it isn't rally intuitive to use. If you are used to the workflowof a typical drawing program (ie Corel, Adobe, or even AutoCAD), then this will be a bit confusing atfirst. However, they do have a nice (written not video unfortunately) tutor on using the product, andI have to tell you that I am impressed with it. It is actually very powerful and can do some neat things. Belowyou will find a link to a YouTube video I did using this program (and a couple of others). In this softwareI drew the character and animated its mouth to the vocal track using that built-in feature. After adjusting myaudio in Audacity to tone down some of the peaks in the audio, it worked great.I still don't know all there is to know about the program, but it is very powerful, especially for the Debut version.I would find it hard to justify buying the newer and more expensive Pro version 10 at $200 for how little I needanimation in the things I do (I am NOT a professional animator nor am I very good at drawing cartoons...I aman Electrical Engineer goofing off on YouTube). I paid less than $10 for it and I would have bought Debut 10at its typical price had I known if the program was actually this cool (although again, awkward to use for someoneexperienced with graphic design software like myself). Their built-in help system is a joke (non-existent by & large),buy that's what YouTube is for these days!.Anyway, check out my video of this and enjoy (details below)!See a video I put together using MAGIX Music Maker 2015 Premium (for the Organ Music),Anime Studio Dubut 9 (for the character animation),Rhino 3D version 3 (for the restaurant rendering)and Audacity (for the voice of Zordar and background noises).Copy the Youtube video link into your browser and enjoy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DcO0vaW5CAThe title of the video is: "Court Blazers - Zordar of the Legal Empire"which is a spoof of "Star Blazers" from series 2.If you just take the title and Google it that will get you to the video also.

Not the most user-friendly, but for the money, not a bad software.
Just got this thing about a few days ago. Started to look through tutorials and how-tos on this software. When I was messing with it for the last couple of hours, I had some likes and dislikes about it.Things I Liked:- Frame-by-Frame/Timeline:The timeline helped out a lot while I was messing around with making animations. Almost as easy as Adobe Flash.- Bone System:The bone system was also a nice little feature that saved me a lot of time. It's a nice feature, but I rather go with Frame-by-Frame animation as it gives me more control.-Freehand Drawing (Pen Pressure)The pen pressure feature helped when I was doing some rough sketches of making characters in animation.Things I Disliked:After 30 minutes of using the software, I found out this wasn't really as user-friendly as Adobe Flash. Here's why:-When doing the Freehand Drawing, there isn't any easy erase tool if you mess up your lines. It's either you have to undo it, or use the joints and fiddle around with the line until it fits your liking.-The scene settings didn't allow for me to have the resolution at HD. If you wanted something WideScreen, best go with 640x480 if you want to upload on Youtube. Conclusion:The software isn't entirely bad. For 22 dollars, it's worth the money, but I kind of wish Smith Micro added a little bit more. Then again, they have a pro version, but it's 300 dollars. Not worth my money. If you want something really user-friendly, try out Adobe Flash if you have 600 dollars lying around with you. Just be sure what you want to do with the software, for Anime Studio 9 isn't for everybody. I give it 4 stars because while it's not the most user-friendly software there is, for only 20 dollars, it's worth it.

Simple But Lacks Features
I like it due to simplicity but the features is very very limited. Bought the program to try it out and cannot do what I wanted to do with the program.

Frustrated!
Okay I was really happy when it came in the mail, but when I installed it and such, it was incredibly difficult to use because I did not know how to draw properly with the tools like how I would normally. Due to this I tried to look up tutorials but even with someone who is a pro at using this, to me, it still looks terribly cheap looking. As if someone tried to draw it all using Paint. I'm sorry, I know that alot of people like this software, but it's just not for me.

Unintuitive and crippled
Anime Studio Debut 9 is by far one of the least user-friendly programs I have ever used. Even very simple actions take an excessive amount of clicks through menus to get done. For example, let's take an incredibly simple function like drawing a vector-based circle. You draw your circle and you want to modify the fill and stroke. Sorry, but you can't, those options are greyed out. Even though the circle is already selected because you just drew the darn thing you have to first click on the 'Select Shape' tool, click the shape, THEN you can change properties of the circle. WHY?! I just drew it, let me change its attributes right there and then!Another massive gripe I have with Debut is that your project dimensions are limited to 788x768! This is a huge limitation that basically cripples the software for me.ASD9 has some cool features, like bone-rigging, that work really well, but is rendered unusable due to the frustrating and unintuitive user interface. Fortunately the software is cheap enough that trying it out isn't going to break the bank.

Anime Studio is awesome!!!
I got this product and I enjoy it very much. I just graduated from FSOU and this program really helped me learn how to animate. Now I recommend getting the how to book with this but they also have youtube tutorials. If you are more of a visual/audio learner.

Animator's software
If you are a serious animator, this software is not too bad but Toonboom Studio or Toonboom Essential are far more better and advance!
