If you understand cars and computers this is what you want instead of a hand held gadget. It works with FORScan which you download for free. I downloaded the program first and familiarized myself with the functions first then I ordered the Veepeak adapter, very simple. This is a quality constructed adapter that fit the diagnostic plug on my F150 perfectly. Following the simple instructions with the adapter, the vapor cannister solenoid valve fault causing the engine light was identified within seconds. I shut the vehicle off, restarted it and re-ran FORScan and the fault cleared and the engine light went out. The onboard diagnostic system retained a fuel system fault code for reference purposes. If you want to do more and take control of the vehicle systems you'll have to pay a small licensing fee to FORScan for the software upgrade. FORScan can also function like an oscilloscope recording parameters and displaying them in real time while you drive. Super cool. You'll know as much and probably more than the dealer since you can use it on an ongoing basis to trouble shoot those pesky intermittent problems. I commend VEEpeak for making an adapter for FORScan. I'm sure there are other possibilities, but this is an inexpensive and convenient way to go.

For unknown reasons, Ford decided to install a timer in the battery of our 2010 Fusion Hybrid, which allows exactly 10 years to pass and then partially disables and de-rates the battery. Our battery was, and is, just fine, especially since it has built-in bypass and failsafe circuits to allow it to not use cells that have gone bad, but the Hybrid functionality was not working properly. We no longer had good pick-up from a stop, or when needed to merge into traffic, and the mileage dropped significantly as the gas engine was working all of the time, rather than on and off; hybrid boost on flat areas or hills was also lacking. Well, I found out on a forum about this clock, and our car was built 10 years exactly before this started happening. So I bought this interface and used it with software I got online, and rest that clock essentially back to "new." The car immediately started working the same way as before, which was "like new." Now we just have to decide what to do as we approach the next 10-year mark.

I used this item to use Forscan to make mods to my 19 F150 Platinum. It worked great with my Windows 10 Surface Pro tablet and the Forscan software. Forscan will direct you when to flip the toggle switch when reading/programming various modules. At first I had couple hiccups when the computer did not pull the driver automatically. What worked for me was to have it all hooked up in the truck, then restart the surface pro with the scanner hooked up in the truck, acc power on, and then the surface recognized the scanner in devices and I was good to go. I did not have to manually pull the driver. Hint: be sure to have the forscan software and extended license process done and activated before you start with this scanner tool. There is a small brochure with instructions for use and how to manually pull the driver if needed. Be sure to backup all your as-built modules before you start making mods.

Did it’s job and linked up with my computer and truck to get the job done. The switch works just switch it over and go.

I have only had the cable for a few days, but so far I have had no issues that weren't caused by using an old netbook to run it. There were other similar cables for less money, but the reviews seemed hit-or-miss, so I chose this one. Being mentioned on the Forscan page didn't hurt, either. The only issue I had was when I tried to install the adapter, and a driver could not be found (was having trouble with Windows update at the time), so I had to consult the Google and download the driver myself. Worked fine after that, and was no fault of the adapter.

Downloaded device driver from the Veepeak website. Veepeak has links on their website for the driver, FORScan software, and the owners manual. My Windows 10 laptop immediately recognized cable. Downloaded the free version of FORScan. FORScan connected to 2010 Mazda 3 with no problems. I was able to see all it's modules. It's oscilloscope function is really cool. It allows you to visually see a failing sensor or track multiple sensors at work with each other. I was really pleased with how easy this device was to set up, and the amount of data it was able to present with the use of the FORScan software. I highly recommend this cable to anyone looking for these features or functions for troubleshooting or maintaining your car. Good job Veepeak!

Awesome, works perfectly!!! I initially ordered an OHP adapter because it was a little more expensive and a lot more reviews, but the adapter never worked and when plugged into my PC it wouldn't even show up as a device! I even tried it in my old laptop, thinking there was a problem with my first PC, wasting 2 hours for my windows to update and still nothing! So instead of exchanging for another OHP, I'm glad I gambled on the Veepeak and it worked perfectly out of the box. It is even designed better for my F150, because the MS/HS switch is located where I can see it straight on. The OHP was located pointing to the floor, so I would have had to guess what setting it was switched to.

I used this with forscan software to program new keys in to a 2001 mercury sable simple and fast saved me an expensive trip to the dealer to get new keys programmed. I bought a used car with only (1) key thinking it was no big deal. Then I learned with out having 2 keys in your hand that are programmed into the cars computer you need to go to a locksmith or dealer to add another to have a spare again. From my understanding it can cost sever hundred dollars. this item and the software from forscan makes it so you can take a new chipped blank key and add it yourself into the cars computer and delete the missing key NICE!!

I ordered this product for my Ford taurus after reading many positive reviews about it although some has mentioned that it didn’t work for them but I never thought I’d be that unlucky. The obd came will packed I connected it to my PC & it got recognized in the device manager but that was it. It never works beyond that & forscan does not recognize it. I have tried updating the driver. I tried in different laptops but it’s not working. So much disappointment as I’ve waited long for this. Update: I contacted the company & they immediately responded, they offered a replacement or a refund. I’ll wait for the replacement then will give my final review Update: I must say I contacted the seller & within 2 weeks they sent me a replacement & it worked perfectly. I managed to use it with ease & modified alot in my car. & their customer service is the best This deserves a 5 star

Après avoir essayer 2 adaptateurs du style ELM327 pour mon Mazda 5, l'un bluetooth, l'autre Wifi, aucun n'a fonctionné avec Forscan. Celui-ci a fonctionné sans problème. Je n'ai dû installer aucun pilote et Forscan a pu se connecter à la voiture sans problème. J'ai donc réussi à faire le reset du témoin DPF après vidange.
