Now when a driver cuts me up I cycle after them and drive them mental beeping this bad boy at them
I bought this after being cut up by too many drivers. Now when a driver cuts me up I cycle after them and drive them mental beeping this bad boy at them. I then pedal away quickly as they get angry.

Deafening!
I used to have a traditional “ping” type bell on my bicycle I use for commuting and leisurely rides, but increasingly I was getting annoyed with still not being heard as I approached people on mixed pedestrian and cycle paths, particularly by people with headphones/earphones in. I did consider the Hornit without the built in light, but I liked that the combo light/horn was rechargeable, whereas just the horn version requires batteries. The order arrived ahead of schedule, and already fully charged. Easy to install. First impressions, the light is pretty good, and the whole thing is smaller than I anticipated (which is good). It has several settings (probably more than needed for most people). It’s a great commuter light - bright enough to see ahead in poorly lit areas, although I wouldn’t feel confident in dark country lanes if I was going at speed. The horn also comes with various settings, but this is where I take a star off and only give a four star rating. Don’t get me wrong, the horn is great, it’s frighteningly loud. I jump out of my skin when I use it, let alone pedestrians, and even some car drivers. The problem I have with it, is that to change the sound, you have to press and hold the horn button for four seconds. Surely a simpler switch would be less deafening!I haven’t used it in wet conditions, but I am led to believe it is rainproof. All said and done, I would recommend for any commuter.

Best Bike Horn On The Market
Just got back from first ride using this horn and I can confirm that you definitely get noticed and I was only using it on it's lowest db setting and it turned quite a few heads which is perfect for making pesky dog walkers get out of your way as they think that they own the path and take up the entire width of said path but now they move right out of your way and they can't complain that they didn't here you either, Perfect 5 stars.

very bad design
15 mins into bike ride threw this away, very bad design, remote mini jack is underneath base of horn, because it is underneath after each bump runs risk of dislodging mini jack and very lose after a small bump in road horn stops working, this horn has two sounds sonic, which sounds like car alarm going off so no-one will get outway because everyone ignores car alarms, second sound is beep, which sounds like a duck call and bad one at that, battery compartment is screwed in but this does not make even slightly water resistant as there is no seal in battery compartment or on lid. in short do not waste money

Not as loud as I would like. Got a replacement from Hornit after old one died.
I'd really like it to be louder, but cars and pedestrians do react. The horn sound is quieter, but the squeal doesn't carry through glass as well, since it's higher pitched.Edit: I've asked for a replacement, since the one I received has started running batteries flat after a day even without it being used. This was after six months of use.Edit 2: got a new one, next day delivery, from Hornit, when I contacted them through their email address under their 1 year warranty. Very courteous and prompt. New horn is going strong.

I love this horn very loud but the horn mode is ...
I love this horn very loud but the horn mode is defiantly better then that weird bird/car alarm sound even tho despite the fact that although yes it is louder then the horn mode no one really reacts to it haha ps if anything they look at the trees probably expecting to see some weird mutated bird creature

Bright and loud - but design not thought through
This device was bought to replace a traditional bell and a rather dim front light which I had on my bike, and as a 2 in 1 replacement it's great - it's loud - very loud in fact - and very bright - but this is where the pros stop and the cons take over.Whereas with other variants of this device the switch is separate to the device, here the switch is hard wired into the back of the device which means if you need to take the device off to go into a shop or to recharge you need to take the device AND the switch with you - which is a bit of a pain. Also where the wire for the switch goes into the actual device doesn't look very strong - which makes me worry about how long this device will last for. It feels like with one strong tug (e.g. if you left the switch on your handlebars and detached the device intending to walk away with it) and that's you needing a repair or to buy a new unit.

Been using a few months now and seems like a solid product
Been using a few months now and seems like a solid product. Will know more in a tear or two and I hope it holds up. The unit itself it around the same size as my front light and securely attaches to the bar. The trigger mechanism isn't as good as others as I found the best orientation for the trigger had the cable coming out on top. But when I wrapped the cable differently I was able to have the trigger in the orientation I preferred. I think the trick will be the longevity of the trigger but it does plug in with a jack so possibly can be replaced? As for the two sounds this unit emits neither would be instantly recognised by cars as a horn. This is a pity as when in traffic a more traditional horn noise is what drivers would respond to. The loudest is a shrill alarm sound which I would imagine would pierce through the driver's glass and radio but they might not recognise what it is. The other option (toggled by a button on the rear of the horn unit) doesn't sound as loud but is a lower pitched tone which I prefer. Neither would really be recognised by drivers but might get their attention when used in combination with your lights.

It's loud and mounts easily to most of the useful places it could be ...
UPDATE: PRODUCT DIES IN THE RAIN, DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS CYCLISTFURTHER UPDATE: Cold weather cycling is a no-go for this. Utterly pointless, buying an airzound next.Further further update: product also dies due to dust. It's loud and mounts easily to most of the useful places it could be put. Does its job, wish it had a rechargeable battery, don't fancy the idea of buying batteries every few months, plus AAs don't do so well in the cold months, seeing as I live in Canada and cycle in winter.

Daher ist The Hornit absolut empfehlenswert!

Not Loud
If you're looking for something louder than a bell and costs $60+, this is for you. I also own a Airzound, which has some serious stopping power. Cars will brake and look around expecting a transport truck, pedestrians with noise cancelling headphones will jump, but with the hornit, they don't even register it and keep on going about their business. It seems pretty loud indoors, but outside, it's just an odd chirp that doesn't really resonate. I bought this because the Airzound is hard to use with gloves on in the winter, the button is very convenient to use on the Hornit, but honestly it's only a bit louder than a decent bike bell out in the wild. I expected something this big and expensive to have more going on.

Schade!

A veces sale fácilmente.

As loud as advertised but.........
The Good---This horn is as loud as advertised and the remote trigger is useful. It has two sounds to choose from. And in the months , and over 1600 Km's of commuting through an Atlantic Canadian Winter, it has remained operational and it's still running on the original set of batteries. The Bad----- The two sounds, a honk like a car horn and this weird twirling tweet alarms squeal, both are, albeit loud, are functionally useless. Sound 1) The car horn, albeit loud has an electronic ting to it and sounds like it's coming from a distance.Sound 2) The twirling tweet, also loud, on short burst is reminiscent of a bird, on the long ''honk'' sounds like a cheap aftermarket car alarm.Which, is exactly how every pedestrian I've encountered seems to respond, which is to say, not at all, because who even looks in the direction of those alarms anyways, I certainly don't. My particular unit, either by design or by glitch tends to default to this sound.Of the two sounds, the horn honk is the most effective on the multi use paths, which is to say once in a blue moon, but, since I prefer to travel by on the paths to be away from the cars, sounds included, I really only annoy myself for a poor success rate.On the road way it has been completely ineffective, forget the tweet sound against a moving automobile, no ones bird watching from a moving car, and mostly the car horn barely gets noticed, and never by the intended recipient. In conclusion, LOUD, yes, but loud with a choice of sounds that simply, if it is heard at all, does not register with people as a sound that they should be paying attention to.It's only still on my bicycle because I'm legally required to have a operational bell or horn and will be removed as soon as I find a replacement.
