The Force
My little man turned 6 yrs old and he is really into Star Wars. We gifted two of these light sabers to him for his birthday and he loves them. I also think they are really cool.I have to remind him that these cannot be used for full on battles since they are a bit delicate. So far he has taken good care of them. They change colors of all the light sabers and make real battle sounds. I recommend these if you are looking to purchase for your little Jedi.

Cool concept, very poor durability
Bought these for my 4 year old daughter as she has been getting really into Star Wars. They look very cool and the brightness of the lights along with the ability to change colors and the sound effects with flash on clash initially worked great. However, with only light use by a 4yo girl the one blade snapped off just above the hilt within less than 24 hours of opening them. I attempted to reattach with electrical tape with minimal luck, but then the speaker blew out within another hour anyway. The second saber then broke right above the hilt the same way a few days later.I feel these could make a great prop for a costume as they look cool and the ability to change colors can fit many different characters. However, if you are looking for a toy for kids to actually play with they simple don’t have the quality and durability to hold up. Fortunately, I’m only out about $20, but I still would expect longer than 24 hours of light use before having to replace them. A classic example of getting what you pay for I suppose.

Good value, lots of fun
We love these and have purchased them twice. The colors and sound are terrific. Battling with them every day, we found they last a few months, provided you don't smash them too hard. They do eventually break around the handle or the batteries can get displaced. But for the money, they hold up pretty well. My son had lots of battles with his grandpa. A real hit at Christmas!

Fun while it lasted.
Sounds are clear and not too loud. The variety of colors was fun and the single button was easy for my 11 year old to figure out for locking the colors or change the colors. The clip together feature was really cool. Unfortunately one of them broke within a few hours of play with his older brother. We had warned him about the cheapness factor, and they were having fun, so he wasn't overly disappointed but my husband was. lol You get what you pay for. My older son received a Crimson Dawn light saber for Christmas and it is much more expensive and durable. Time will tell if that was worth the investment just to have them practice their light saber fencing skills.

It's ok (updated)
Edit--Out of desperation I went and bought a brand new pack of batteries, the ones I had I bought last year, so they should have still worked, as they work in my other appliances fine. The brand new batteries do work and the lights function, getting to the other 4 colors (yellow, purple, teal and white) is not super intuitive, you have to spam the button until it goes to quiet mode 4-8 times to get to those colors, but they do exist updated to 3 stars because it'll at least work but it gave me the biggest headache.End of edit---I needed these for a dance performance where literally all they needed to do was light up long enough to be waved around in the air for a few minutes. No impact or anything so I ignored the reviews that said they break easily. I got them today, and put batteries in just to test them to make sure they lit up and they do not. One of them just makes awful stuttering sounds that I cannot get to stop no matter how many times I press the button. I had to take the batteries out to get the sound to stop, and I wasn't even moving the sword. The other one turned on long enough for me to see a faint red light, and then a faint green light when I pushed the button, and then it too shut off completely. I never saw proof that these had 7 colors. Additionally the quality isn't worth the $25, it looks like something you would get from the dollar store. Again, I really didn't need it to be incredible, I just needed it to light up for like 5 minutes. Will be returning

Continuously changing color. Fragile.
The media could not be loaded. Expected more for $20.Pros:1. cool sound effects2. nice colors3. you can connect the two sabers to make a single double-sided saber.Cons:1. Changes color with a minor touch or even just swinging it. You cannot keep it steady at any one color.2. To turn it off you have to press the button 5 times and go through all the colors.3. After only 2 hours of play they started to fail. One sometimes won't turn on, the other turns on by itself with the slightest touch, or won't change colors.

Amazing, Makes You Feel Like You Are In The Star Wars Universe
The media could not be loaded. The saber is complicated at first, and I am still figuring out the buttons, but if you are gentle in duels, then you will be fine. Perhaps go a different route for a younger kid, like one of the extendable lightsabers. Many complaints come from the switching colors, if you hold the button until there is a beep, then it will be locked onto that color until you press the button again. There seem to be 8 colors, blue, green, red, yellow, a purplish pink, light blue, and a multi color that turns into a white with a slight purple tint. The fact that you can attach the two sabers together and apart makes using them even cooler, (I personally leave the adapter in one of the sabers, and then I can attach and detach the other blade quickly. 10/10 worth the 17 dollars!

Not for young kids
I bought this for my brother and it did not last long without getting broken. Very easy to break
