Wire Mesh Lantern Globe For #170 (167-100)

This is a great globe. It's reasonably sturdy, flexible, and above all it won't break. There's a bit of light loss, but it's fairly minor and is well worth the security of a globe that won't break. My only complaint is that it states 'universal' in the product description. It might be universal for "compact two mantle classic style propane lanterns", but it's not universal by any means. I've checked it against all of my liquid fuel lanterns and both of my other propane models and it's too small for any of them, both in height and diameter. It's really designed to fit the lowest end dual mantle propane lanterns. The flimsy ones that look like a squat tin can with a globe. That's not bad, but it'd have been really nice if there were a compatibility list or dimensions listed so I'd have known it wouldn't fit ANY of my other twelve lanterns. One out of thirteen is not universal.

I'll be ordering a whole bunch more of these soon. Replaced my main Coleman globe (broke it god knows how many times) with this one and worked great. Very little difference in light out put. A little harder to light in a wind but not a big deal at all. Had about thirty folks in and out of my camp and they all wanted one (wonder if I can get a token for sending them here to buy? - LOL) The top blued a little from the heat but did not distort and it did no anneal the metal - still just as strong. Fit perfect - I would double the stars for this if I could. Of all the things I have purchased from amazon, this is by far my favorite buy!!!

Replacement glass globes for propane/liquid fuel camping lanterns used to be ubiquitous and affordable. Not anymore! This mesh quasi-globe is a functional alternative that might actually be superior to a glass glove in rough conditions. Yes, the mesh does dim the light output a bit--though not as much as you expect. On the plus side, if the lantern runs into a hard object, the mesh globe gives, not breaks. Also, you wouldn't expect it, but the mesh does provide some wind resistance so the lantern doesn't flicker if a breeze comes by. Works fine on the Coleman GPA and propane lanterns where I've used it--but it's too small for the "big" Coleman 220/228/290/Powerhouse lanterns.

It just fit my Coleman 288 with no room to spare. Like that, the lantern holds it perfectly round and I think it looks great. This 288 is for getting knocked around so the wire mesh globe is perfect! Don't let my poor quality pictures fool you, the light output with the mesh is very bright. More os that an amber globe. Not too much less than a clear globe. It is a simple but sturdy design. It looks good. Worth it to avoid broken glass. I do not think it is not going to fit 200, 242, 220, 228, 275... it did fit my 288. It might fit a 286.

Good alternative to a glass globe , still puts out a good amount of light from the lantern i was a little worried about that but it’s working out just fine . See included pics for light comparison vs a glass globe.

I don't know how many glass globes I purchased over the years, this is not going to break. The light is slightly subdued, but on a double mantle lantern it really doesn't matter much.

Quality product easy to install

The glass globe on my Coleman lantern broke and, rather than buying more glass to be broken by my drunk friends, I decided to give this a try. My lantern is listed as a fit for this globe and I found the mesh to be the exact same size as my former glass was. However, it's a little difficult to get the lid of the lantern to attach properly because the mesh has so much give, unlike the solid surface that the glass provided. I also found that it was easy to get this globe bent out of shape and not so easy to bend it back. Pros: Doesn't break Doesn't get hot Cheap cost Cons: Not as sturdy of a fit the way glass is Tends to get permanently bent out of shape from normal use Provides slightly less light than the glass All in all you should decide if this product is right for you. If there is a high likely hood of your lantern being knocked around by drunks, dropped, or touched by the hands of small children you should get this. It's safe and impossible to break. However, if your previous glass globe was broken in a freak accident after many years and you don't think it likely to be broken again, go with the glass.

Fit great on my woods brand lantern. Had to replace the glass dome after I dropped the lantern and thought this would be more durable. Great investment!

Little wide but works well

En las fotos del producto solo se puede observar linternas de gas, en la descripción del producto solo mencionan que se adapta a linternas de doble manto pero no mencionan nada sobre linternas de combustible y más como no había reseñas que lo indicaran, por un momento dude en comprarlo, pero fue una grata sorpresa ver como queda, adiós a los globos de vidrio!

Excelente Producto, a la medida, lo recomiendo.
