THRICE THE NICE ICE AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE
At last, Arctic Chill has finally perfected a way to make decent ice cubes without the tray exploding. I've been know to freeze 2 inches of water in a Styrofoam cup and then place the cup in a bowl so when it burst open it wouldn't mess up the freezer. Then I'd have to peel shards of Styrofoam off of my nice-size ice cube before I could use it. Ice cube machines make wet ice that melts quickly. That might be okay for people who use the ice as soon as it falls into the basket but it's still dripping wet. If you put a basket of ice in the freezer, it must be chopped up after about 15 minutes or else you'll have one huge ice cube. Chopping ice is a pain. Running back to the freezer every 15 minutes for ice is also a pain. The $125.00 ice cube machine I used for 2 months before discovering these fantastic silicone trays made cone-shaped cubes. A one-inch cone has more surface area than a one-inch cube, as a result, it melts faster. I filled two, 20-ounce Styrofoam cups with ice cubes. One cup contained three, 2-inch cubes frozen in the silicone trays and the other cup was filled with the ice from the machine. I left both cups on the kitchen counter in 75-degree room temperature. The ice from the machine melted in 2 hours. After 6 hours, the three, 2-inch cubes were still large enough to chill a 12-ounce drink. Three large cubes in a 20-ounce Styrofoam cup is the perfect size for a 12-ounce drink. It fills the cup right to the brim. I can enjoy two refrigerated 12-ounce drinks, place my cup with 3 ice cubes in the freezer and do the same thing for 2 more days on the same 3 ice cubes. Ice machines have to be drained and wiped dry after use or they will mildew. That's a pain. My ice machine is now stored away waiting for the next garage sale. Now, back to these great silicone trays. It took me a bit of trial and error to find the best way to empty them. The method that works best for me is to firmly grasp the tray with both hands and push the 4 center cubes out with my thumbs. Unless you have strong hands, it might be necessary to place both thumbs on the same cube. Just bend the tray backwards and push. Pop the end cubes out last. The more I do it the easier it gets. My wife does have a bit of trouble getting the cubes out but she can do it. Weak hands might have a bit of difficulty at first. If that's the case, allow the trays to sit out on the counter for about 5 minutes and they will pop out fairly easy. At the end of the day, I have thrice the nice ice at a fraction of the price.

Bigger and Better
Great product! The silicone is strong, flexible, and BPA approved while the ice is easy to remove and lasts much longer than traditional options. Pros: - The giant cubes make for a great conversation starter. - The trays are easy to fill and simple to clean. - The ice cubes last much longer than their less refined counterparts. Cons: - The giant cubes could cause illusions of grandeur among those lacking a royal bloodline. - Gigantic chunks of ice floating in frozen water has been cause for post-traumatic flashbacks among elderly cruise ship enthusiasts. - Ok, seriously. There’s nothing negative I could think of. Overall, the Artic Chill Large Ice Cube Tray is highly recommended for anyone looking to put the “ice” back in “spice” of life.

It's Hard to See Water Line in Black Ice Tray!
Something I was unaware of before using these, is black is hard to see the water line. I used a Pyrex measuring glass to fill the tray, and had to look at it askew to see the glare on the water to keep from over filling them. I washed them in natural dish soap and rinsed them, air drying, but I detected a very slight off-taste in my glass of water using 2 ice cubes, although almost undetectable. I feel confident when I use them again it will have disappeared. Two cubes fit perfectly in my CocaCola glass with handle. (wide top, narrowed bottom) I did not have to use water on the bottom to dislodge the ice cubes, I just twisted them 2-3 times and they slid into my ice container. Bottom line: Good quality. Would I buy them again? Probably not, but would consider white or a different color. Review#2: It was as I expected, no off-taste after first use. I really like these ice cube trays (would still prefer a different color, but I'm learning to fill the black trays easily, without over-filling them) The size of the cube is great for keeping drinks cold longer. I'm happy with my purchase.

Great Product
It's been a hot summer and my old hard-plastic ice trays weren't holding up to constant use. After reading the reviews, I decided to give the Arctic Chill large ice cube trays a try. Everything I read has been validated. The large ice cubes do last longer because they have less surface area exposed to the air and liquid than a bunch of smaller cubes. All I use is one cube in an 18-oz glass beverage glass. The slower melting rate also means less dilution. It is very easy to pop the ice out of the tray by pushing up from the bottom. The trays stack well in my freezer and take up less space than my old ones. I have not noticed any odor or flavor from the silicone. Time will tell if these trays are more durable, but I think eliminating the need to twist and strain the material will make a difference. The company provides good customer service, including a follow-up email with tips on making better ice.

Great alternative to traditional trays
I love these! I hate not having an ice maker so I would have to constantly fill those cheap plastic tray that would always crack and never seem to be full. These guys take up just about as much room as the traditional trays but give you a bigger cube so you don't need to fill them as often and they are really easy to pop out as opposed to the single cube one's I've used in the past. Also since they are silicone they do not crack and leak like the typical one or get stuck in the tray. All you do to remove them is flip it over and push on the back of the cube and it pops right out. The one I received did look powdery out of the box. I concerned me at first but it washed right out with some soap.

They aight...
So I'm old school and don't have an ice maker. I had been using the same old fashion ice cube trays for years until the plastic gave way and started leaking. These make HUGE and dense ice cubes. You seriously don't need more than 1 for sipping that whiskey. You definitely don't need more than 2 for a glass of lemonade. However, these are somewhat lacking in ergonomics...? I'm not sure the words. While filling, there's not cutout for water overflow. You have to fill each square individually. Which is fine, I guess, if the thing wasn't so wobbly. Filled, you can't hold it by just one end. You kind of have to prop it from underneath, like a waiter's tray. And, popping them ice cubes out isn't very easy either. The silicone is sturdy, so there's no real give. You can't really dig a fingernail along the edge and pull on out. You have to kind of push each ice cube from the bottom. I'm only nitpicking because there are other silicone trays out there that to attend to these "issues." I'm nevertheless satisfied with them and will keep them until someone yells at me for spilling/wasting too much water.

These are better than the freezer "ice-maker cubes" by far.
These work well and i use them primarily for use in a high-ball glass. The trays are easy to use, and as they hold 8 cubes each. I use one per glass of scotch. I fill the high-ball glass with scotch until the cube just floats, and that makes a great drink. If you are a degenerate, like myself who dilutes his scotch with ice, i recommend these strongly. They are easy to fill, and it is easy to remove the cubes from the containers. These are better than the freezer "ice-maker cubes' by far. They are also much better than every store bought cubed ice i have found. NOTE: I have been drinking scotch for over 20 years now, and these are the best way to make cubes for the drink that i have ever found.

big ripoff for the money. Go buy rubbermaid trays locally!
I've been duped by the fake reviews here. These things are a big chore to get the cubes out. Allow 30 seconds per tray to pop each cube out individually. Also the cubes are too big to function in the ice dispenser in my fridge. I subsequently went out and bought normal sized Rubbermaid trays locally for $1.97 each that blew these things away in ease of use. Turn the Rubbermaid tray upside down and twist gently and all cubes FLY out. So easy. So many reviewers said these cubes last longer and don't melt as much. I knew this was counterintuitive and I was right. Folks, it's simple physics...to get the same amount of cooling, an equal amount of ice will have to melt. The other people's reviews about this are just plain wrong and misleading. If you use these, yes your drink gets watered down FAST. The cube didn't last longer than 40 min for me. You can see the thing melt in front of your eyes when you add chilled water out of the fridge dispenser. Plus the cube is too big to fall to the bottom of an average glass. This silicone material has a waxy, greasy exudate. Use your tray a few times then let it dry. The minerals from the water will have formed a sticky white goo on the silicone which is impossible to get off. I returned my trays and felt bad about the fact I couldn't get the gross white smears off.
