Livescribe 3 Smartpen, Black Edition &3 Ink Cartridge Refills, Black, Medium Point, 8 pack

Using this pen for less than a week. Was impressed with most of the functions. Transcribes really well. Easy setup. Just getting into the flow, convincing management in my company that they should invest in them. Shockingly after 6 pages the ink runs out. Either this is faulty or a used pen. Either way when spending £150+ on a pen, I expect to get more ink!If I can't get a respone (no option on Amazon to send an enquiry) I will be returning this pen for a full refund very soon.

This pen is amazing, it is the best purchase I have made in months. It is so useful!! It works quite well regarding recording and transcribing (about 70 to 80% comes out perfectly when I do not write too rushy; another 10% is not perfect but deducible). BTW, I use it to transcribe notes in Brazilian Portuguese with good results.It is quite easy to use. I record and take notes of interviews, and it links the audio with the notes, in a way I can touch the notes and listen to exactly what was being said at that point. It saves me much time from trying to find a specific point of the dialogue in regular audios which are not syncronized with the notes. I can also electronically edit the handwritten notes or the text version.It is super easy to transform my handwritten notes to .txt and to send them by email and by other means, such as dropbox or even whatsapp. No complaints whatsoever, it has made my life sooo much easier.Two downsides of it, maybe: (1) the app does not run in the computer, but only on the phone or tablet, which is a limitation; (2) the price of the notebooks and cartridges, which makes this gadget a bit expensive in the long run (even though the cartridges are relatively less expensive than the notebooks and last relatively longer).All in all, I highly recommend it!!

Ok First things I loved livescribe pens.. nearly as much as my Note9! I bought this to replace my older Pulse pen due to the battery finally failing :( In terms or the Pen it pretty does what it says on the tin - it uses anoto paper with the pen. the little camera records the writing and stores it until transferred to the tablet or phone! This is where I am not impressed compared to my older Pulse! No oled display. no onboard recording - you have to have your device beside you. you have to use a tablet/phone - no desktop software. i'm not sure if it still uses my script for handwriting recognition but its not as accurate as say Nebo or Samsungs own handwriting recognition software. So although I like this product... I cannot say I love it as much as my older Pulse pen.. It does have some nice wee features... the twist to bring out the ben and switch it on.. the usb charging hidden under a capacitive touch cover. and the cover that protects the camera and pen... though I expect this to get lost easily soon! overall happy with my purchase

There isn't anything I don't like about this pen. It's reliable, never misses anything and just works. The pen has an excellent feel, it's a little thicker than normal pens, but that is expected and doesn't get in the way of comfortable writing. The technology is so impressive! Being able to search through my notes easily is incredibly helpful rather than sifting through volumes of notes manually.

I just got my product yesterday the pen has a nice feel and looks good the only downside is that it's already run out of the ink that was supplied after only writing one a4 page of text. That's slightly disappointing as I hope its not like that for each ink refil you get or I'll be forever spending money which seems like a waste of the initial cost when a normal bic is gives more for the money you pay.

Beware that the livescribe black edition does not work with iPad iOS 10. The support for this product is terrible 3 times I tried contacting them and they only provided once a general trouble shooting steps. Then silence.

I was looking forward to my livescribe but ran out of ink after a couple of pages and have now chased numerous time and still not received a replacement cartridge. I now have 8 replacement cartridges and the ink still runs out after a couple of pages. I would like a refund - Amazon can you help as Livescribe doesn't seem to see any problem about this defective product? Thanks

Livescribe have ruined this device and taken a massive step back. You used to be able to record the audio directly on the previous pens but now you have to open an app to record. That;s fine until someone calls you and the recording stops. You also can't export the audio file. They have embedded it in a PDF file that you need to use their webplayer for to listen back to. It's nice in a way that they keep the audio with the PDF but useless if you want to transcribe it.

anfangs funktionierte alles ganz gut, doch bereits nach 4-5 Wochen erkannte die Kamera im Stift nur noch manchmal das geschriebene so dass auch keine Synchronisation erfolgen konnte - Service des Herstellers gleich Null - Amazon hat promt ein neues Ersatzgerät geliefert (obwohl die Rückgabefrist längst verstrichen war) - doch auch dieser Stift versagte seinen Dienst nach etwa 4 Wochen - er ließ sich nicht mehr aufladen - wieder kein hersteller-Service - Amazon hat problemlos den Kaufbetrag zurück erstattet !!! großes Lob an den Kundendienst von Amazon!

Großartige Idee mit grottenschlechter Umsetzung. Als Journalist hatte ich den Stift nun ein halbes Jahr im täglichen Einsatz und kann ehrlich sagen: An keinem anderen Produkt bin ich jemals so verzweifelt, wie am Livescribe Smartpen 3.Beginnen wir mit dem Stift selbst. Das DESIGN (Black Edition) gefällt mir, der Stift ist zwar tatsächlich recht groß, daran gewöhnt man sich aber. Problematisch ist die kleine Abdeckkappe über dem USB-Anschluss, die bald regelmäßig abging und irgendwo in meinem Rucksack verschwand. Letztendlich dann für immer. Auch die Verarbeitungsqualität hat Mängel, nach einem halben Jahr trat ein kleiner Riss im Schaft auf, der stetig wächst - nun muss Amazon ersetzen. Sehr vertrauenserweckend ist das natürlich nicht.Die mitgelieferte TINTENPATRONE hat gerade einmal für drei (!) Seiten im A5-Notizbuch gereicht. Der erste Frustmoment kam also relativ früh. Ich setze seitdem auf No-Name-Patronen, die genau passen, ein fünftel der Originalpatronen kosten und - nach anderen Rezensionen zu urteilen - mindestens dreimal so lange halten.Die GRUNDFUNKTION, also das Aufzeichnen der Handschrift durch den Stift, funktioniert tatsächlich gut. Sowohl bei Text als auch bei kleinen Zeichnungen. Doch schon die Funktion per Handy auch den TON aufzuzeichnen und nebenbei Notizen zu machen, die dann zeitlich synchronisiert werden, ist für mich nicht verwendbar. Beim ersten Interview brach zwischendurch anscheinend die Verbindung ab, dadurch wurde die gesamte Aufnahme gelöscht. Zum Glück hatte ich noch ein zweites Aufnahmegerät mitlaufen.Das große Problem, das den Stift letztendlich unbrauchbar macht, liegt in der WEITERVERARBEITUNG der aufgezeichneten Notizen. Damit kommen wir zu dem Teil, der mich in den vergangenen Monaten regelmäßig zur Weißglut gebracht hat: der App. Der Stift wird per Bluetooth mit Handy oder Tablet verbunden, eine Koppelung mit dem Laptop ist gar nicht möglich. Bei den unzähligen Mängeln in der App fällt es mir schwer einen Anfang zu finden.Am Anfang steht die ÜBERTRAGUNG der Daten vom Stift an die App. Ich habe mich bald möglichst von der App ferngehalten, den Stift also nur gelegentlich gekoppelt und viele Seiten auf einmal übertragen. Das dauert allerdings ewig, es gibt keine Fortschrittsanzeige und keine Info, wenn der Vorgang abgeschlossen wird. Sollte die Idee sein, dass alles unmerklich im Hintergrund abläuft, dann müsste die App in der Zwischenzeit bedienbar sein - ist sie nicht.Die BENUTZEROBERFLÄCHE der App ist alles andere als intuitiv, die meisten Funktionen sind irgendwo versteckt. Die TRANSKRIPTION der handschriftlichen Notizen in Maschinentext ist so gelöst, dass sie praktisch unbrauchbar ist. Anstatt einfach seitenweise zu arbeiten, werden die geschriebenen Texte in sehr, sehr kleine "Snippets" unterteilt. Dabei dürfte nach Zeitpunkt der Notiz vorgegangen werden, was dazu führt, dass spätere Ergänzungen oder Korrekturen in neuen Snippets angelegt werden. Die Snippets können kann per Swipe in Maschinentext transkribiert werden. Um Fehler zu korrigieren, sind zwei Klicks pro Snippet (!) nötig. Die Folge: Hat man einen etwas längeren Text, der in entsprechend viele kleine Portionen unterteilt wird, ist man als geübter Tipper schneller, wenn man den Text selbst in eine Textverarbeitung klopft. Die Qualität der Texterkennung lässt ebenfalls zu wünschen übrig.Aus all diesen Gründen habe ich mich letztlich darauf beschränkt, meine Notizen als PDF auf den COMPUTER zu übertragen. Eigentlich sollte man hier ein ganzes Notizbuch per Mail versenden oder in die Cloud (zb Dropbox) stellen. Bei längeren Notizbüchern ist das aber nicht möglich, die App stürzt kommentarlos ab. Also müssen die Seiten in kleineren Portionen hochgeladen werden, ein Vorgang der bei einem 100-Seiten Notizbuch Stunden dauern kann - weil die Seiten einzeln angeklickt werden müssen und lange Zwischenladezeiten zusätzlich bremsen. Manchmal behauptet die App dann, dass keine E-Mail-Adressen angelegt sind, obwohl kurz davor noch eine Portion per E-Mail versendet wurde.Insgesamt stürzt die App regelmäßig ab, ist unerträglich langsam und in Folge kaum zu gebrauchen.Leicht zu umgehen wäre sie, wenn man den Stift direkt mit dem Computer/Laptop verbinden könnte. Unverständlicherweise hat sich der Hersteller gegen diese Funktion entschieden. Dazu noch zwei Punkte, die man vor einem Kauf bedenken sollte:* Was passiert, wenn Livescribe die App-Unterstützung für ein bestimmtes mobiles Betriebssystem oder eine ältere Version eines Betriebssystems auslaufen lässt? Muss man sich dann ein neues Handy zulegen, nur um den Stift weiterzuverwenden?* Wie steht es um den DATENSCHUTZ ? Derzeit ist es nicht möglich, die digitalen Notizen vom Stift direkt auf den Computer zu übertragen. Man muss den Umweg über E-Mail oder eine Cloud gehen. Für Ärzte, Psychiater, Therapeuten (und zum Teil auch Journalisten) kann der Stift damit nur eingeschränkt verwendet werden. Da es hier zumindest eine positive Rezension eines Therapeuten gibt, frage ich mich ernsthaft wie der/die das macht.Abschließend noch zum SUPPORT: Ich habe mich wegen des Problems mit den Audionotizen (siehe oben) einmal an den Support von Livescribe gewendet. Der Mitarbeiter im Chat wusste offenbar nicht, dass der Stift nicht selbst aufzeichnet, sondern die Funktion des Handys nutzt. Den entsprechenden Hinweis (der eventuell Spuren von Sarkasmus enthielt) hat er als "frech" empfunden und den Support daraufhin abgebrochen.Alles in allem kann ich vom Kauf des Livescribe Smartpen 3 nur dringend abraten.

If you want to skip right to the point, the concept works well, but the durability of the pen as a "daily driver" is a disappointment.Original ReviewFor me, taking written notes in a meeting helps my retention, and it keeps me from opening my laptop and being distracted. Taking pictures of my notebook worked but it was one more thing to take care of after each meeting, and I was not always diligent. Livescribe digitizes your handwriting as you write and makes it available in their app, or via popular note-taking applications. I took the plunge, and after a month with the device, I feel like I have integrated it into my work-flow reasonably well.Now to the details. It is a chunky pen. Everybody's tastes are different, but I do find using the pen for extended periods is tiring. I read some complaints about the lower quality of the ink cartridge, and it is not as good as a nice ballpoint, but it's a passable writing experience. Battery life is decent, too. I seem to lose the Bluetooth connection daily. The only way to recover is to shut the app down and pair the pen again. This is an irritant, not a showstopper for me. It reminds me of early Bluetooth headsets and the first generation of phones with Bluetooth. It is odd that in this day and age, the pen and the app would have such trouble staying paired, let alone connected.Now to the weak link in the experience, the iOS app. The app is central to the experience of getting the digitized page from the pen to the tools you want to use. There are many other, more eloquent critiques of the app online. They are pretty much spot-on. The designers got the sync to Evernote and OneNote right, but the rest of the experience is a letdown. The only to-do app that is integrated is Apple Reminders, which I do not use. The documentation is also weak, which would be a non-issue if the app helped you figure out how to indicate that a sentence was a to-do item or something else, but it does not. There is nothing wrong with being hardware people, but if you can't design a productivity app, open things up with an API. It would be interesting to see what another developer could do with the experience.If you made it this far, I have recommended Livescribe to members of my team. For now, this is about as close to the best of paper and digital content that I have managed to find.Update 2018-12-08Recent updates to the app have improved the Bluetooth stability to the point where I don't have to re-pair the pen with my phone any longer. I also discovered that the tutorial I ignored when I fired up the app for the first time, did have some useful information in it regarding making a sentence into a reminder, so my bad. The pen continues to be a valuable addition to my productivity toolkit, and it remains my daily driver.Now to the worrisome development. The lower housing of my pen has begun to develop cracks. The Livescribe support experience has been good, and they will send me a replacement, but this appears to be a design problem. The cracks have developed around the "ridges" on the upper housing that, presumably, exist to provide a friction fit. I am not sure what I will do if these cracks reappear on the replacement and the pen is out of warranty. I expect a device that comes at a price premium to last a bit longer than six months. I will update the review if this happens again.Update: 2019-01-10The cracks that I mentioned in my last update have grown larger, and another crack developed on the other side of the lower casing. Given that the lower casing has a friction fit with the upper, this is more than a cosmetic issue: I find I have to constantly fiddle to keep the top and bottom of the pen physically connected. The customer support at Livescribe is perfectly pleasant, but after a month, they still have not shipped a replacement lower casing. They claim that they are awaiting new stock, but now that the LS3 has been replaced by the Aegir, my confidence is not high that they will be able to honour their warranty. This is disappointing for a product at this price point. I am lowering my review to 1-star based on how quickly this pen cracked, my concern that there will be no replacement casing coming, and even if it arrives, the likelihood that this is a design flaw that will simply reappear after a few months. I still use the pen daily, but I can't recommend it if you are considering purchasing it due to the lack of durability.Update: 2019-04-17After 3 months with the replacement casing, I continue to use the pen daily. Whatever the new material is, it seems to be holding up better than the original. As a result, I am increasing the rating for this device. I would still be hesitant to recommend the pen after my experience, but I will say that the support from Livescribe has been good.

Utilizzata per la prima volta per un corso di 3 giorni associata a un Samsung s8+. Nessun problema per quanto riguarda l'acquisizione della scrittura. Problemi per la funzione di registrazione audio tramite telefono, in cui gran parte delle registrazioni risultavano mute. Cosa che non succede utilizzando registratore del telefono nella versione classica.Per il resto ottimo prodotto. Grande ma non eccessivo, impugnatura comoda, buona scrittura su carta e molto intuitiva. Forse migliorabile la applicazione, ma tutto sommato ottima esperienza

J'utilise ce smartpen depuis 18 mois. Dans l'ensemble j'en suis satisfait (il fait le job de numériser les notes).En revanche, la reconnaissance de caractère est un gadget (j'écrits mal MAIS même en s'appliquant le système ne reconnait rien ou presque).Coté recharge, elles sont hors de prix et vu les commentaires j'hésite à en acheter.Hélas, après 18 mois d'utilisation régulière, il s'en fendu juste en dessous de la bague d'allumage et tient désormais avec un scotch.Donc en utilisation "à la maison" ou en bureau fixe pourquoi pas, mais si vous souhaitez "bouger" avec smartpen, ce n'est pas forcément le meilleur modèle.

Ich habe diese Technologie vor Jahren schon mal in einer Shopping Mall gesehen und war fasziniert.Jetzt habe ich mir den Pen und ein paar Bücher bestellt - ich bin immer noch fasziniert.Mit meiner 'Sauklaue' war ich beeindruckt wie gut die Erkennung in Englisch (out of the Box) funktioniert - auf Deutsch war es dann schlechter... ;-) wer schreibt schon Deutsch?Gleiche Versuche mit einem Tablet und z.B. OneNote erfordern mehr Training des Systems bevor etwas vergleichbares herauskommt.Besonders gefällt mir, dass ich Notizen, Zeichnungen etc. anfertigen kann und diese sofort (ohne Scanner) an Kollegen weiterleiten kann (inklusive audio)Positiv ist auch, dass man nicht unbedingt LiveScribe Blöcke/Bücher/ Papier kaufen muss - man kann auch die nötigen Muster auf weißes Papier selbst drucken - es gibt kostenlose Dateien zum Download, die man verwenden kann - wenn's der Drucker drucken kann...Achtung: 1 Stift 'merkt sich' alle Bücher und Seiten - egal mit wie vielen (max=5) devices er gepaart wird - alle sehen alles -> 1 Stift "Arbeit" und 1 Stift "Privat" etc.....Fazit: nicht perfekt - Wenn man seine Erwartungen anpasst gut - wie heist es so schön? This is a great tool for those who have many meetings, with lots of talks.I could never catch all in my notes. Even i'm typing fast on keyboard. (but it's too noisy during meetings)Then I tried taking notes on iPad with stylus, but it's not easy to write on the glass screen.Finally, this SmartPen is the best solution:- I can write on paper, I can have all my notes in my iPhone/iPad (especially when you write a notepad every 2 months, then you cannot carry all with you everywhere)- I can record the voice during meeting and find exactly the place to listen (with pencast).Before I would record 1h30 of voice, then I could never use it because it's too long to find what we talk at what time of the meeting)Small issue with the update of firmware. I had to pass by computer. Cannot do it by bluetooth from iPhone.The software on iOS is good, practical.I wish there was an easy way to synchronise the pencasts from iPhone to iPad. (currently, you can synchronise the notes, but not the voice recording. You have to export from iPhone then import on ipad)

I bought this for keeping notes in school, I am sorely disappointed and feel I've wasted nearly $250 (stupidly I also bought note pads). It doesn't just magically transform your handwriting into typed words in the app unless you are meticulous in your writing (not a luxury that student's have when the prof doesn't stop because your digital pen is acting up). It's not as compatible with OneNote as you might think, there should be in interface that allows you to take notes directly into that software. If you accidentally archive a notepad too many times (easier than you might think) then it stops reading from that notebook no matter how many pages you have left. It doesn't recognize different formatting - for example: trying to take notes, I decide to make them in point form in columns; the formatting blows the pen's mind and it lumps the rows from three columns into one line and then garbles the characters into wingdings for good measure. And before you think it - my hand writing isn't immaculate, but it's still pretty neat. I'm just very disappointed and dearly regret wasting the money on this product.

La penna è molto precisa nella descrizione del tratto, commette qualche errore nel riconoscere la scrittura di testo, allo stato attuale sembra che non riconosca affatto i simboli matematici. Questa è una grave mancanza..

I bought this since my Echo livescribe pen had stopped working - I hoped they had solved the annoyances like loose bits and pieces that always goes missing, but instead they have complicated what was basically a recording pen. This is not really intuitive, it messed up the recording since it happens through the phone, and is not stored on the pen. It has a feat that you can see on the phone what you are writing on paper - but really, some engineers gone astray without proper user testing and defining user needs. I can well manage without that, if I need writing on my phone I just use an app for that.I don't expect this one to last long, except for lack of use - and will definite not buy from Livescribe again!

Bei Reportagen habe ich meistens eine Spiegelreflexkamera, einen Voice-Recorder, Schreibblock und Schreibgerät dabei. Handys sind in den meisten Pressegesprächen nicht erlaubt und abgeschaltet. Um Gespräche mitzuschneiden, müsste ich mein iPad zusätzlich mitnehmen, denn darüber funktioniert die Tonaufnahme beim livescribe 3. Das ich auf dem iPad live, verfolgen kann was ich notiere (blue tooth) ist überflüssig, denn das kann ich ja auf dem Papier sehen. Insofern ist der livesribe 3 unpraktisch. Ich habe das Gerät zurückgeschickt und mir den livescribe Echo bestellt. Der nimmt direkt den Ton auf und hat auch einen Lautsprecher. So kann ich iPad und Voice-Recorder zu Hause lassen und nur mit dem "Echo" und Block Interviews aufzeichnen.Beim Test mit dem livescribe 3 ist mir auch aufgefallen, dass in einigen Fällen, z.B. wenn man einen i-Punkt oder einen Querstrich beim "t" machen muss, dass der Stift einfach weiterschreibt, als wenn man den Stift nicht kurz "abgesetzt" hätte. Das gibt dann ein unleserliches Gekrakel, das auf dem Original-Papier nicht zu sehen ist.

Hier prallen Theorie und Praxis aufeinander.Mir gefällt gar nicht, dass man den Stift dauerhaft mit dem Handy verbinden muss - insbesondere für die Tonaufnahmen ist das störend.Die Handschriftenerkennung funktioniert zwar gut, leider ist aber insbesondere die Arbeit in Verbindung mit OneNote und die Synchronisation sehr umständlich. Für mich war das Teil leider unbenutzbar und ging zurück.

Die Synchronisation mit microsoft onenote, die für ein professionelles Arbeiten essentiell ist, arbeitet deutlich unzuverlässig.Der Service ist unterirdisch. Man erhält lediglich allgemeingültige Aussagen, wird zum Teil für dumm verkauft und am Ende wird auf ein sehr bald folgendes update vertröstet - dieses steht seit Monaten aus.Das Produkt ist somit absolut unbrauchbar!

auch wenn es nicht möglich ist. aufgezeichnete Notizen direkt nach Windows zu übertragen und dafür der Umweg über E-Mail gewählt werden muß (sofern keine cloud zur Verfügung steht), ist es super, handschriftliche Notizen direkt digital verfügbar zu haben, und diese nicht mehr nachträglich einscannen zu müssen.Und ja: selbst meine manchmal schwer lesbare Handschrift wird erkannt

Pluspunkt: besteht komplett aus Pappe.Die Anleitung ist ausreichend.Funktion=======Los geht's: die beiden App's aus dem Google Play Store geladen und dann das pairing durchgeführtvoller Erfolg - der Notizblock wird in Livescribe+ angezeigt und mein Schrift erscheint auf derersten Seite.Dann der Frust - die Bluetooth Verbindung geht laufend verlohren.Also: alles nochmal auf 'Anfang' und die beiden App's diesmal von Amazon geladen.Seitdem gab's nie wieder Verbindungsprobleme.So zum Schreiben: das klappt auf dem Mikro-Punkt Papier wirklich prima - auch Details werdensehr gut erfasst und auf's Handy uebertragen. Man kann beliebig zwischen den Seite hin und herspringen Ergänzungen machen oder was durchstreichen. Hier für gibt's 5 Sterne.Die Livescribe App könnte noch etwas Feinschliff gebrauchen.So kann man beispielsweise auf auf der Übersichtsseite die Reihenfolge der Notizbücher nicht ändern.Die Handschrifterkennung arbeitet zu befriedigend - eine 'ordentliche' Schritt vorausgesetzt - dieder Autor nicht hat. In diesen Fall hilft nur manuelle Nacharbeit in der Livescribe App möglich ist.Die App unterscheidet zwischen Bereichen mit Schrift und Zeichnungen.Zu der Pencast Funktion kann ich nichts sagen - dafür habe ich keine Verwendung.Folgekosten==========Die Auswahl an Medien mit dem Mikro-Punkt Papier ist beschränkt -und sie sind teue.Haptik und Design=============Der Stift ist ungewöhnlich dick und etwas kopflastig.
